DD doesn't like using her Easton Mako Torq because 1) It's green and 2) Anything she hits stops as soon as it touches grass. Before the season started I found some cheap bats from Combat that were too big, but I figured cheap enough to buy and put up for the future. Well she started wanting to use one of them because 1) It was blue and prettier and 2) She really doesn't like the easton.

Saturday she wasn't hitting the greatest with her Easton so DH let her use the way too large combat. I told her she needed to choke up on it and if she couldn't hit the ball with it because it was too heavy, the bat was going back in the attic never to be seen again until she grows 10 inches and gains 40-50 more lbs. Well go figure she choked up and hit her first homerun of the season. I'll admit that the combat does seemingly have a lot more pop to it than the mako torq, but it's too freaking big for her!

So now I need suggestions on a good bat with a -10 that has a lot of pop because I don't want her using a bat too long and too heavy for her. I was looking at the CF9's, but I'm not sure whether the regular model or the insane version would be better. Or maybe a Xeno or LXT.

Just out of curiosity....what size difference between the MAKO and Combat?

We have been trying to find the perfect bat for our dd as well. It ended up being the cf9 -11. We also bought the xeno, fs3, cfx, and several different combats. She really dislikes the xeno even though her entire team uses them. The cf9 has the most pop for her.

Mako is 31/21 and Combat is 33/25. BIG difference, but DD loves that stupid log of a bat.

How old is your DD? How big is she?

For comparison, my DD is 12yo, 5'-4", 130-ish lbs, and pretty strong. She is swinging a 33/23.

It's so hard to find the perfect bat, lol. During the regular rec season most of the girls used her Mako and loved it, but DD was still iffy about it being green. She was also convinced at one point that it was bringing the team bad luck because they kept losing. Lol, I had to break it to her that unfortunately it wasn't the bat, but rather their lack of defensive skills.

DD is 11, 4'9 and 70 lbs. I feel like she's strong for her size, but still wayyyy too small to be swinging that big stick. She was swinging it Saturday and managed not to drop the barrel back like she does with the Mako, but I think that was only because she was really trying to make sure she didn't make a fool out of herself, lol. I just want her to have a bat that fits her so we can be consistent with fixing her swing issues.

You're correct. The 33/25 is WAY too big for her. 31/21 sounds about right based on her size.

My DD is the same size and pretty strong from her few years in gymnastics. She is swinging a 30/20 cf9 and loves it. We are transitioning to the 31/21 against slower pitchers now. In that size she has a xeno and cf9 but the xeno is still a little heavy so she prefers the cf9. Check the bat weights database on this sight. Xeno weighs more than the sticker says while cf9 is under.
