I'm Looking at getting a Pocket radar. I see they have the classic model and the ball coach model. I assume the ball coach is better but can I get by with the classic model? It is cheaper. If anybody has either one I would love to here your reviews.

When I got mine I did research and chose the Ball Coach. it's been awhile since I read up on it but I felt like if I didn't want the extra accuracy I could get a $70 Bushnell. If I was going to spring for the Pocket Radar, I wanted the one that would be most accurate.

You can save money with the classic model, but there is quite a bit of inaccuracy that can come into play if you don't operate exactly the same way every time. Another issue is that each individual running it may use it differently. So if those 2 items are part of the equation, I would go with the Ball Coach model. But if you are trying to save some bucks and are just going to use it yourself for reference, the classic might be a good option.

But for game situation, I like the Ball Coach model because it will pick up the pitch speed as well as exit speed. Record the screen with the game in the background and you can collect some very useful stats.

I've been wondering too. Haven't bitten the bullet yet on this purchase but feeling like it's probably time. Anybody actually use the Bushnell regularly and satisfied with it? the reviews on Amazon are definitely not encouraging - mostly based on people clocking cars in their neighborhoods.

What about the Bushnell ones? Anybody have any reviews on those?

The Bushnells are not great and you can't slyly bring it to a tournament, game, etc without being noticed. I have the Pocket Radar Ball Coach and its very accurate, keeps track of the pitches, is the size of a phone, and the charge lasts forever. Bite the bullet and get the ball coach and don't look back.

Yes to the charge lasting forever. I got mine last year sometime and have never changed the batteries. They are definitely more discrete and I love being able to semi-covertly clock pitchers. Our girls were intimidated by faster pitching for awhile so I would clock the pitchers then tell them "Hey, she's only 44. You guys can hit 44 no problem!"

Well went ahead and got the ball coach. Didn't wanna take a chance on the others. Can't wait to use it.

Enjoy! My favorite thing is hearing someone saying, "She's throwing 55" then clocking her and showing them the 46 on the read out. I've tested it per their instructions too, it's dead on accurate from what I can tell. My DD has hit 54 on the PC's Bushnell (running in, not regular pitch, where her record is 52 on the Bushnell). Of course, I'm happy to take a picture with the gun and her big smile but I'm still waiting to see 50 on the Ball Coach. That's when we'll be really excited about that particular milestone.
