DD used it in her second tournament this weekend and hit a foul ball off the end and the end cap separated some on one edge. We had parents telling me she shouldn't use it in case the whole cap popped off and one dad who said there's gas compressed in the barrel and the bat wouldn't work as well if that seal was broken.

We told her to keep using it until an umpire said something, then she should stop. She hit a dinger and several more balls to the fence with her "broken bat". Of course, we are calling Easton on Monday for a warranty claim.

So now Mizuno is coming out with a bat model named the Ghost

This bat was on the market before the Easton. We were at a tournament and my DD comes to me and says dad they have some ghosts at that tent over there, even though I knew that the ghost wasn't scheduled to hit the market for a couple more weeks. I ran to the tent in excitement, what a total let down when I laid my eyes on that ugly thing lol.

Wow...hahahaha, the things some people say.

But, why waste a warranty claim so early? The bat isn't broke and not losing some "compressed gas" haha, and isn't
going to have the endcap "fly" off. That separation will happen on many bats if you endcap one just right. LS is especially
known for endcap separation, but it doesn't effect anything.

I would wait and use it as much as possible. But congrats, that's a good endcap shot ;)

Anybody know if they check for loose endcaps at ASA Nationals? What happens if they notice? Do they just tell you to put the bat away? Heading to Chattanooga in a couple weeks and DD is worried an umpire will notice.

I did call Easton and they said we actually have 2 returns of the bat, so if we choose to use it, we would still have another claim available. Another reason to love Easton.

If your daughter is "worried" about it then I'd get it warranty replaced now! You don't want her worrying or even thinking about stuff like that headed into a tournament against high level competition.

There is more issues if the daughter is thinking about a little endcap separation when hitting...haha.

This is all up to you cmspock...I was never one to burn a return on something not really a concern. But if you
feel like doing it or if you think you will run into an ump that looks for stuff to nitpick, then by all means. That's
why they make returns...peace of mind and a nice insurance policy

Kids get bothered by and worry about silly things that as adults we recognize aren't issues. If something about the end cap dislodging on the bat really bugs her, I say eliminate that concern. Some ball players are very superstitious, including many MLB players, and like to go through a particular ritual and/or have their equipment just so. It's not logical, but if it helps mentally and confidence-wise.......that's what matters!!

Again, that's why I said its up to him. Would I burn one, no. I would try and push that thing down a little myself
and see if I can make it better and move on. Then I could beat the snot out of the bat more.

Yes......I agree that if you can fix the end cap, and not use the warranty yet, that would be the preferred solution! My suggestion only applies if it cannot be fixed.

Thanks folks! You can go back to talking about how the Ghost is such an awesome bat.

She still thinks the bat is great and isn't affecting her head other then she said she twists the bat so the space is forward away from the ump.

She hit the HR (with sucky low compression balls being used in the tournament...but that's another story) after it dislodged. It's more of a concern about them checking the caps in Chattanooga and not allowing her to use it. If it happened after Aug 2, I'd tell her screw it you're keeping it until next June.

I figure I have until after the showcase they're playing this weekend to decide and still get it back in time. Thanks for the opinions
