My daughter is a junior in high school, batting clean-up, she is 5'6" and about 150lbs.
She just broke her Miken Halo 32/20 that she had for three years.
I was looking for a mid-range priced bat that will hold her for two years.
Was thinking of either 32 inch or 33 inch composite..looking at some Combat bats and Mizuno bats.
do not want to spend an arm and leg either
Hopefully not more than $150-$160
Any suggestions
Thanks
Barry

I just asked the same question for my daughter who is the same size as yours. Check out this thread...

Am I the only one wondering why a 17yr old, 150 lb kid is swinging a 20 oz. bat!?!?! And at clean up?

I originally made a similar mistake with my daughter. She was younger and smaller at the time, but when I was last coaching bats were just starting to have a drop, and the thought was the lighter the better. I remember when a -8 was crazy light. When my daughter got older and needed a bat I purchased her a 20 oz. bat thinking lighter=bat speed... like in the old aluminum bat days. I remember in the 80s a 5'4 120 pound girls swinging a 32-32 bat because it was the lightest one she could find.

I would suggest looking for a used Demarini CF-series 33/23. 32/20 is WAY too small and light for a player of your DD's size.

For comparison, my DD is 12yo, 5'-4", 140 lbs. She is currently transitioning from a 32/22 to a 33/23.

My dd is not that big swings a 33/24, more power- I would expect the 32/20 Miken to break. It doesn't have anything to do
with the quality of the product, it is because she outgrew the bat

I have a 12u dd (turns 13 next month)
she's swinging 32/22 bats... granted she's built more like me. But at 5'6" and 140# and capable of dingers, the 22oz. bat is perfect for her. I'd imagine by the time she's 17, she'll be in a 33/23 or 34/24 by then.
While bat speed is a factor, I'd like to see a good mix of power AND speed. An F150 doing 60 mph will do a lot more damage in a wreck than a speedy/lightweight corvette at the same speed.

Ok, so I think I am going with a 33/23 for my 16 y/o
Narrowing it down to an Easton Mako CXN Zero 33/23...a Combat Madison Shipman 33/23 ....Combat Maxum 33/23...Combat wanted G3 33/23. or Easton FS1 33/23
any suggestions on which one is better??
Thanks
Barry
