We are finally putting in a fences on our fields this year! No more line drives going all the way to 300' fence. Have a question! Looking at the green rolled mesh with poles but wanted input! What style does everyone recommend? We have looked at the one where the poles attach to mesh at top and go thru hole at bottom. Also have looked at the ones with a pocket that runs the entire 4' up and down that poles go into. Are they worth the extra price to get the ones with the pocket as others look they might rip easier? Thanks!

The mesh is better than the panels. Grand Slam make a good product. You will need the 314' roll to make a 200' softball fence.

I like the pockets for the poles and think they are worth it - but if you have to choose go with the 5' spacing on poles over the standard 10'. It significantly reduces sagging and fence failure (sometimes the ground is just soft in places)

Also I like the ones you have to auger into the ground over the 'weighted' ones.

-- and awesome. Temp fences make the game much more fun at 12U and up.

We bought this fence last year (with the ground sockets) - https://beaconathletics.com/store/for-facilities/temporary-fence-pole-pockets/

While the fence held up great...a bunch of the plastic poles broke on us throughout the season. If you are in a area that gets a good amount of wind, make sure there is a ton of slack in the fence. If you have it tightened up (so it looks nice) and high winds come through....the plastic poles will break.

What did you do to keep hard grounders from going below the netting? (SORRY TO HIJACK!)

Our experience with temporary fences is that is hard to do...while some spots are tighter fitting than others, there are almost always going to be soft spots that a ball can get under. Just make sure your OFers know how to put both hands up when that happens (ground rule double).
