So my catcher beast DD has grown and her old gear has taken a beating so we're in the market again. Her Wilson Shock helmet has been great except for the straps which take a lot of wear because of the placement (the sharper edge of the shell itself sits right on them). The Schutt chest protector and shin guards performed ok but could have been better. No need for a new glove, the new Vinci is finally broken in. Oh yeah, DD is 14, playing year round travel (14 & 16A), HS Varsity and her sister is a pitcher. Decent gear that doesn't break the bank and will last is important.

Starting to look around now to see whats out there, with all the changes in the industry things have shaken up a bit. Eric you're always on top of this, any suggestions? Deals, coupons, etc., are also appreciated!

Following this because my daughter's Wilson Pro Mo gear is still good, but I can't see maybe getting more than this Spring and maybe next Fall out of it. Wish I had an answer for you but I just don't know what else is good. She loves the Wilson gear.

So Cal
I haven't come across any serious bargains like we saw when Wilson was blowing out the ProMo stuff.

Wilson's new "Pro Stock" gear is on their baseball page, but I haven't heard if they are going to do anything softball-specific. My kid is going to need a new helmet and chest before too long. She may end up with All-Star to match her legs.

My 18 year old DD has never been a "matching gear" catcher. Adidas helmet (she has a great big melon), All Star chest protector (that she has had since she was 13 and refuses to replace because she doesn't like the "over the shoulder" design) LS catcher's mitt (that I bought used when she was 13 and she refuses to replace) and Mizuno Samurai leg guards. So my advice is to find what she likes for each item and buy it all in black...

Following...DD needs some new equipment also. She has outgrown her chest protector which I think is Easton, but she doesn't like it. She has Schutt leg guards and they don't seem to twist around as much as others she's had. Got the Wilson Pro Shock helmet back when it was on sale and she likes it.

Interesting, one of the very few things DD doesn't like about the Schutt leg guards is the twisting. I had planned on swapping out the straps but just never got around to it.
