I've re-laced a number of gloves over the years, both my own and for friends. It's not hard to do with the right tools. I use Lexol for cleaning and conditioning, they look like new when done.

Had a guy named Jeffrey Rous from Texas completely rebuild my 30+ year old Wilson A2000 XLO. Completely clean & condition, replaced the thumb and pinky inserts and re-laced with very stiff Tanners lace. Was blown away when I got it back, he does fantastic work! You can see some of his work on Softballfans in the general glove discussion thread. Can't recommend him enough.

Same, my old a2000 broke catching want it spiffed up. its in good shape other then flat as pancake, glove.JPG

That looks like a USA built A2000 XLC, is that right? I'm telling you, Rous will make it look good as possible again, it won't be perfect but you'll definitely be pleased. As far as it being flat, nearly all those old school gloves had old school hands in them that broke them in with a single break in the heel and they closed thumb to index/middle finger.

I take my hat off to anyone who doesn't regularly lace gloves to take on re-lacing a trap or a mod-trap like yours. My recommendation for Jeffrey Rous was for a complete restoration. He's done two gloves for me that needed the thumb and pinky inserts replaced, he makes them out of a thicker plastic. Other than those two I now do my own re-lacing. I redo the fingers and the web spiral on my DD's Vinci about every 6 months and have re-laced 4 complete gloves this year. BUT, I haven't done a trap yet......and don't know that I want to!

The trap is easy if you just follow the old lacing. I did one earlier this year and while it looks intimidating, it wasn't too bad. Keeping the lace straight (not twisting it) is the toughest part.

Well thankfully the only trap at our house is a horween leather Don Morton Rawlings PRO-12TC. By the time it needs re-lacing I'll be a very old man! Everything on that glove is brick hard and built tough.
