I did search and have gotten some ideas, but am hoping for some specific input. I want to get a nice glove that will last (she kills her Mizuno prospects very quickly; her last 2 gloves). I'm OK with dropping some cash on it; I understand it's very possible this time next year she'll have outgrown it and we can deal with that then. There's a local place I can take her where she can try them, so if I can get a few suggestions I can hopefully find them there to see which one she likes best.

She's almost 10, tall for her age but not stocky (if that matters). Her primary position is pitcher; secondary is short stop. What would y'all recommend?

Any input on Shoeless Jane? I can order one through Academy then return it if she doesn't like it or it doesn't fit right. I was thinking the 11.75". It's a women's glove but it seems like most of the good ones are.

DD has used the Mizuno MVP Prime series gloves for years and they are a solid mid-priced glove. She beats the crap out of it (i.e. she slaps her glove on thigh when pitching) and can field ground balls and use it in the outfield her secondary position. I just bought her the one below so she has one for HS ball and one for TB.

We bought a Louisville Slugger Xeno when DD's Mizuno Prospect gave up. I wanted to get her a Mizuno Franchise but she hated it, said she couldn't get her hand in it. I looked at it, and it was very short from the web to the bottom. It was a 12" glove and she was tiny hands so I couldn't understand why they built it this way. She likes the Xeno so far, it was marked down from $90 or so to around $60. It has more palm padding and broke in easy.

For a mid-level glove, the Miz MVP series that Rocketech1 mentioned is a decent choice. I have not been impressed with the Shoeless Jane gloves that I have seen. For a higher-end glove, Vinci, All-Star, Rawlings, and Wilson are all good candidates.

I would suggest 12"-12.5" (actual size varies by mfr.), and go with what she's comfortable with. That size will also serve her just fine when she moves up to the 12" ball.

Thanks everyone! I'm tempted to go w/ the Mizuno MVP, because she loves the feel of her current Mizuno. She's got the low end Jennie Finch model, and they just don't hold up with how much she uses them. We've gone through 2 in less than 2 years.

What style is best? It seems like the basket is better for pitching to hide the grip but I've seen people say they like the open weave styles for SS. She's used to the basket though she has a 1B glove she's used a little that has the open style.

My DD uses a Vinci baseball glove strictly to avoid velcro, I'm pretty sure I'm going to buy one of these. DD was playing in Tallahassee a couple of months back and saw one of these at a store for $250. Small hand stall, tight fingers and it wrapped up a 12" ball perfectly. I would say definitely not an outfield glove but a perfect pitchers and infielders glove. It'll be fine, say it with me............NO Velcro!!!
