DD would like to have her catchers helmet customized, she has worked hard and saved her own money so I'm determined to find someone who will do a good job for her. She doesn't want anything cartoonish, rather, she would like it to coordinate with the uniform and more closely to their warmup jackets. I was hoping maybe someone had sent their catchers helmet or even batting helmet to someone and were very pleased with all aspects of it from pricing to easy to work with and finally the job done. I attatched a couple of pics in case anyone does this kind of work and can see at least the creative idea she has for what she would like. Thanks in advance for any help you can provide.
I have searched around here local for quite a while and found a couple of places that did this sort of thing but no one I was comfortable using to be honest

As I mentioned in you other thread about the subject, I used an airbrush artist who does custom paint for batting helmets in the local rec leagues.

You might also try doing a Google search for "custom goalie mask painting" or something similar and see if you get any good options. It might be necessary to use someone who isn't local.

Go to a place that has a Saturday night Hot Rod/car show get together every week. Find a car that has custom airbrush work that you like and get the name of the artist from the owner. Then contact them and see what they would charge to do a helmet. Chances are they haven't done one before and might like the challenge so would do it rather inexpensively. Also look at custom motorcycle painting. Those would be my top places to look but of course, being in Ohio, it might be difficult this time of year to see that kind of thing. If you can't find one that way, call around to custom auto/bike paint shops and get names of who they use for airbrush work. If one name pops up several times then contact them. Other than that, I'm out of suggestions

Be aware that solvents, waxes, paints, etc. can potentially alter the performance of the shell of a helmet and thus expose individual or company making the modifications to liability. This is one of the reasons why you don't find many companies out there offering to paint your helmet. Also, painting or modifying a helmet potentially impacts the helmets performance on the NOCSAE certification test, therefore, some organizations prohibit painting, stickers, and other helment modifications without a letter from the manufacturer stating the modification is ok. I know that a few years back our Little League All-Star team carried in our tournament book a letter from the helmet manufacturer stating that our league stickers were ok.

Here are a few renderings I have done for my teams helmet. I will be painting it when the weather warms up. If you would like help doing it yourself PM me and I would be willing to walk you through how to do it? Doing it yourself will cost you $75 - $100 for a nice job with clear coat. If you want to have someone paint it your going to be in the $ 200 - $500 range depending on the amount of graphics or brush work you want.IMG_0394.jpgIMG_0392.jpgIMG_0393.jpg

I would take a look at Schutt. Wont be %100 custom but I bet you can find a design and change colors to make it close.
The bonus is you get a new helmet with a warranty. I am a Schutt dealer and can tell you they can make some sick helmets.
