My DD has been asked to play up on a 14U team and we are needing to get her metal cleats. This will be the first time she has played in them. I was hoping for any recommendations on brands/cleat patterns that have worked well (especially for catchers). She has previously worn the Nike Swingman plastic cleats and liked those. Most seem to have the same pattern except the Mizuno 9 spike, anyone have experience with those?

Ringors with the pitching toe ! My DD wears Mizuno advanced sweep 2 because her organization wears Mizuno gear. She'll wear out 3 or 4 pair of the Mizunos before she'll wear out one pair of Ringors !! The Mizunos are light and my DD likes them but she's not paying for them either....

FWIW, recently some parents were discussing the metal cleat pattern on the Mizunos and some model of their cleats have a single cleat at the back heel, while others have two cleats. Some players were complaining the 1 cleat was a little unstable compared to the 2 cleat back heel. My DD has played with the Mizuno 1 cleat back heel for about 6 months and has never complained but worth a discussion with DD if trying out both models. DD is not a catcher.

My DD is an 18U catcher and loves Mizuno for fit - I love them for durability. She now wears the men's because she wears a size 11 women's shoe and the men's have more colors. I have heard good things about Ringor but they are too narrow for DD's feet. JUST DO NOT GET 3N2s. They do not have flex channels on the bottoms across the ball of the foot - so for catchers who are on the balls of their feet a lot they just don't work. The entire plastic part that the cleats attach to separate from the bottom of the shoes. First pair lasted a little more than a month, second pair (that 3N2 sent) lasted about the same amount of time...

If your DD's foot has stopped growing it is hard to beat a pair of Ringors with the pitching toe as ANNASDAD pointed out. Well worth the extra $$$ if you are not replacing them because your DD outgrows them.

DD uses the Mizuno 9-Spike Swift 3 Switch and she is happy with them. We have gone through 3 pairs in the past year and half. One because she won't stop growing and secondly the spikes have worn down to nubs. She went from 8.5 to a 10 last year. Now she is wearing a 10.5. Avoid the concrete if at all possible-they are the worst on the spikes. There is no reason to go clickity clacking on the concrete sidewalk when you have perfectly fine grass to walk on. Fresh spikes are great for raking over infielder legs. My DD loves her war wound from this past fall.

Edit to add. She was playing 3rd base when this happened.

DD has had a Pair of Ringors for the past 4 years. I had to break down and finally buy her a new pair this year because the spikes have worn down more than half-way and she loses traction in the mud on throw-downs. Can't beat the durability or the comfort as far as she's concerned. She won't wear anything else.

My DD always chose Nike but since her team forced her into Mizuno 9 Spike Sweep 4, she made the switch. She immediately fell in love with the Mizuno and swears it is the most comfortable spikes she has ever put on her feet. If you order, be aware that the Mizuno size differntly than the Nike. We found the Mizuno sizes closer to her regular street shoes.
