Miz Prospect-series gloves (like the catcher's mitt you also asked about) are entry-level, and not built to last more than a season of regular rec-level use before becoming too floppy to be effective. The Miz Supreme is a better quality glove (compared with the Prospect), and will take a little more abuse before needing to be replaced. If your DD is pretty dedicated to playing for the foreseeable future (next 2-3 years), investing a little more in a decent glove is generally money well spent.

Personally, I don't love the Miz low-end (Prospect and Franchise) fielders gloves for a player 10U and above, who is at least semi-serious about the game, but I'm a bit of a gear-geek. For the Miz line-up, the MVP series is decent, and should still be in good shape for next year when she moves up to 12U.

If your DD is particularly small, she may be better off with a 12" glove. Too large a glove can be harder to control.

My 10U, tall for her age but not big (not overly thin either, athletic build) has a 12" youth Mizuno prospect and she loves that glove to death. She's been using for a year and 4 months now and it's holding up. She plays travel ball and practices relentlessly year round, so I'd say it's a pretty good glove. This is the fielding version though. Interestingly, I went to get myself a catcher's mitt today to catch for her. I tried on every one they had I think and my favorite feeling mitt was a Mizuno youth. I'm not exactly tiny so it seemed weird but hey, it felt right so that's the one I got. Can you take her to try them out before you decide?

Skip the prospect go with the MVP. Prospect lasted through one Spring and part of fall and then we had to retire it, and probably should have done it sooner. I'd also go with the 12inch for now unless she's tall for her age.

My 10 year old tried on some gloves today. A 12" MVP fit her well. She is still using her Rawlings FP115 she got in t-ball 3 years ago.

I think the biggest difference between a youth and an adult glove will be the hand size. I would suggest having your DD try on both to see which one offers a better fit. An adult glove with an adjustable Velcro strap may allow her to "grow into" the glove.

Another thing to keep in mind....Glove sizes are not consistent from manufacturer to manufacturer. Miz's 12" tends to be closer to Wilson 12.5"
