I've been hearing a little about Combat and wanted to see if anyone has any experience to share, pro or con. Looking at the website, there seems to be several a number of options: single wall, two piece and another. What are the differences? How do they hold up? Fastpitch - Combat

It appears that with each extra ounce, you get a little more barrel to work with. I guess it makes sense, but haven't noticed if other manufacturers do the same.

Thanks ahead,
Ken

My DD has used the Lisa Fernandez sig model (alloy/composite hybrid) and Avaritia. For their price, and my DD"s level of play at the time, both were very good choices.

These are very popular baseball bats around here. The baseball version is known to be extremely balanced, with huge pop out of the wrapper, large sweet spot. They are fragile, but almost the perfect bat for most boys who shouldn't really be swinging end loaded when young anyway. Based on DS's experience with Combat, we tried out a couple of demo bats at a local cage. Honestly, they felt exactly the same as DD's Mizuno Whiteout, like a wood bat. DD hasn't swung the Avaritia though, and I hear that's a decent bat.

They have a new model series called the Maxum that is getting ready to be released. It comes in 1 and 2 piece models. They have also released the Madison Shipman signature models. The Maxum sounds intriguing though.

Plenty of pop when given time to break in. But ss is smaller.

But I just looked...gonna be tough to compete if they are pricing the Maxum at 349 and its
a one piece design. You already know how people hate on one piece bats. Plus, their
weighting was always welll above sticker.

I sent a couple Wanted G3's around to a couple people to demo and sold some dirt
cheap to some others. They said the pop wasnt there...until it broke in...then watch out.

DS's 9U Travel Baseball Team had a chance to demo a -10 and a -12 Maxum for a weekend. The barrels are huge compared to most others, hence the name. The night before, we held BP, and right out of the wrapper, they seemed nothing special. Once they broke in, they were very good. The Mako we have was still out distancing them though, and the ball came off better. I think with more swings and break in though, they will be very good. Like Core said, the price point is just too high IMO for a one piece bat.

I would agree on the price point. It's going to be hard to sell new unproven bats at $349 without any 30 day return guarantee or other incentive. I'd like to try one but at that price I doubt it will happen.
