Well I can't argue that completely, but I will say this. There are TV's there, even big flat screens in Russia. But the biggest difference was the quality of umpiring.

Steve, I know they have the screens...I was talking about the satellites to beam the full games to us. If YOU don't know about the terrible showing of the 2 Chinese teams in the Jr.'s play in South Africa, then you might not also know the excellence of our team. Our "best Pitcher" was there, and played, but as it turned out, she wasn't really the Best on those days. But we had several more options for "the Best" pitcher to step up...and she did...You would think you could get a DVD of the South African Home and Hosting team... (stands packed ) playing Team USA. When you see what it takes to get one, you'll find the problem....

I understand your world view.... Glad you are working your end of it. I think in this time of suspension, we should develop a even more prestigious event, World Showcase, that is annual. The Women's World Series. Open to all. The USSSA Pride, or any combo of pro's and any combo of pro's and college players thru to 16 and over. And not genetically altered players.... Just unlimited teams. Lets see who is the best in the world that week. Dreams change almost every night. It would be awesome to see a new Dream team every year.

I say no basketball in the summer games since a) it is a winter sport and they are all pros and this is for armatures. And b) why pick on baseball and softball just because our country is good has anyone seen the scores for the basketball games...... It is redo lupus when men with million dollar contracts take those courts I have never seen a million dollar softball player in the Olympics. Just my opinion. It is BS. These players have worked hard and deserved to be there maybe Labron will hand over his medal to this girls since they deserved a chance at one and it was robbed Oh well not hating team UsA basketball just not fair

Just face it, watching softball isnt as fun as watching a guy bounce on a trampoline or a horse jump over a fence.

Latest news I heard was softball is going to officially join its bid with baseball, I'm just not sure about that since baseball has already said they won't release (MLB) players in the middle of the season and the Olympic committee does not want baseball without the superstars.

This sucks, this Olympics seems kind of empty without Softball. Watching Badminton and Trampoline has really filled the loss of softball thou.../sarcasm

What I'm going to say probably won't be popular but its my thoughts. Blaming Jim Easton for his abstaining is silly. He still makes millions in arrows, paddles, hockey gear and bats that are made in the cheapest conditions on earth. Yes he could have saved softball but chose not to for some reason. There was also 59 other members who's job it is to know sports who thought softball was "girls baseball" and for that they failed at their job. I'd love to hate Jim Easton on this but I can't. Its no different than hating Nike for how they do business when it costs them $6 to build, advertise, ship and market shoes, yet sell them to inner city poor kids.

ON top of that, Greece and a few other locations build sport specific parks for baseball and softball that are now VERY expensive paper weights so to speak. They have ZERO program in those sports and now those facilities sit empty at huge costs.

Now, all of a sudden baseball wants to help softball which chaps my A#$ to no end. Baseball is further away from making it back in of these two and seems now they are dragging softball down. I think softball is making head way and doing what needs to be done to get back in, and baseball is piggy backing them w/o the aid of the sports biggest resource and their fossil of a commissioner. MLB could probably pull the string that it took to get this deal done but of all the major baseball leagues, MLB won't budge. Lets just hope lil girls get to chase a dream again in 2020 and softball gets in, but the people that can kill dreams are a bunch of out of touch, rich men more interested in making money. Sad isn't it?

He still makes millions in arrows, paddles, hockey gear and bats that are made in the cheapest conditions on earth. Yes he could have saved softball but chose not to for some reason.

The issue with Jim Easton was that he knew decisions and votes would take place involving sports for which the company produced equipment and he accepted the seat anyway. If he had a true moral issue, he never should accepted the position. Also, the IOC has a standing procedure in place that the Chair informs voting members of any type of conflict of interest PRIOR to any question being brought to the floor. The Chair, fully aware of Mr. Easton's corporate position, saw nor issued any such notice of conflict. That means Mr. Easton acted outside the procedure in abstaining.

There was also 59 other members who's job it is to know sports who thought softball was "girls baseball" and for that they failed at their job.

And they are as crooked and politically motivated as the thieves sitting in the District of Columbia and they operate for one thing, their own good. This country mistakenly prides itself for not being like that, so I guess we deserve the likes of Jim Easton.

I'd love to hate Jim Easton on this but I can't. Its no different than hating Nike for how they do business when it costs them $6 to build, advertise, ship and market shoes, yet sell them to inner city poor kids.

Don't hate the man, but you should despise his ignorance.

ON top of that, Greece and a few other locations build sport specific parks for baseball and softball that are now VERY expensive paper weights so to speak. They have ZERO program in those sports and now those facilities sit empty at huge costs.

That is a load of crap! To start, who made every effort to attain the Olympics? That's right, Greece. It isn't like someone knocked on the door and said, "hey, your turn in the barrel, you MUST do this". They CHOSE the Olympics before the IOC chose them.

Secondly, who in the world stated the these "stadiums" or any other facility must conform to a sport specific design or use? Are you insulting the Greeks of being so stupid they had no foresight as to how to build a multipurpose facility? Maybe they aren't as smart, but even other countries who did the same had a plan, some even including demolition of how to proceed after the games. If the Greeks aren't smart enough to figure that out, and considering there position today, maybe they weren't, that is irrelevant to the sports involved.

Of course, they could have done the same thing the US did in the 1960 Winter Olympics. They won the bid, built the facility and then told the IOC they would NOT be having a bobsled event that year because they just were not going to build the track. Period.

I think this will hurt softball more than help it. Even if they get back in, I see baseball grabbing everything they can and leaving softball in the dust.

Softball should be in the Olympics for no other reason that the numbers. The games do draw sell-out crowds and high TV ratings and IMO, most baseball people are Pro-fixated and would barely give the Olympics any additional attention.

I remember reading where Easton’s goal was to get golf in the Olympics and get Tiger Woods a Gold Metal. How that would benefit Easton is a mystery to me unless Easton sells golf stuff or had plans to. I have not spent a nickel on anything Easton sense and have no plans too, my little bit of protest.

Baseball and softball IMO is Americas sport, probably more kids play these sports that the others combined, the fields around our area are packed all summer with kids playing BB and SB.

I have not watched an Olympic event this Olympics, because I watched due to baseball and softball. I watched other events while waiting for baseball and softball to come on so now I have no reason to watch any of them.

I understand that they were having problems filling the stands for different events for this Olympics and had to get workers and give free tickets and position cameras to make it look like the stands were full of spectators.

Seems like that is common excuse... Japan has the same one. She must be doing something wrong. The fact that they don't have a pool of Pitchers by now... shows their problem. They never will unless we pay for it, and hand over the how too's. Forget the IOC, and the UN. Let's get it over here where there's toilets and TV. Lets run the Games, and just give them airfare...

Here in the USA might not be the best place. With all the anti-terrorism laws, it's gotten very hard for folks to come to the US. Perhaps Canada? It would be easier for all the athletes and their families to get to and they have all the modern conveniences (so does Europe, btw).

By the way, I'm still mad at Jim Easton. I imagine I always will be.
