Deangelo Sanchez. Honestly it bothered me at first.....and then realized after doing a little digging it comes from the right place. He is fiercely loyal and protective of his sister and I'm not going to be the one to be judgmental of that. Is some of it over the top for me? Absolutely. Is any of it negative toward the other team? Not at all. Hard to be too angry with that.

I think he’s great but I can see how some might find him over the top and distracting. I read an article about him after the Clearwater Invitational and he’s his sister’s biggest fan for sure. She was diagnosed with lupus at age 14 so much respect to her and her superfan.

Mary Iakopo does it too. She possibly learned it from Gwen? It isn't mid pitch but it's right when the pitcher begins her motion. So I'm more inclined to believe it's for the pitcher rather than the batter. It was a bit jarring at first but I don't even notice when she does it now.

It may well be something that was taught by Coach White and staff at Oregon. Janelle Lindvall did the same thing. In my DD's lessons with Janelle, it was always described as something for the pitcher. However, it's not a habit my DD has adopted.

I'm now a Fan of the Superfan and will be rooting for his sister. That is a great story.

This guy is alright. He's very positive and roots for everyone.

There is another LSU fan that cheers at the other team. He yells at the opposing batters when they're in the box. He yells at the opposing pitcher. I'm surprised they let him in the park. Sometimes he says some inappropriate stuff.

Oregon catchers have been doing a mitt-smack before each pitch for years. My understanding from talking with a former Oregon catcher is that it's about firing up the pitcher rather than distracting the batter. With former Duck catcher, Gwen Svekis, now on the coaching staff at Indiana, it doesn't surprise me that the catcher is doing a mitt-smack.

That is good mitt smacking knowledge!
