Some spectacular ball this weekend then to learn that softball won't be part of the 2024 Olympics is a real downer. They need to give this sport a chance to catch on. Once you watch softball baseball seems slow and boring.

While I still enjoy baseball, I would agree. My DD and I went to get her some reps in a week ago on Friday. We use her old school's softball field. They don't practice Friday and the team is done at 4:30. We noticed the baseball team was scrimmaging, V vs JV. So after we were done we went over and watched them play the last 3 innings. She got to see how her old teammates had progressed (we weren't impressed honestly) and watch a little ball being played for free. When leaving I told her I much more enjoy watching softball now as it's faster and more going on.

We should not worry about softball being in Olympics. I would rather spend the effort to grow this sport here in the US and countries like Australia, Philippines, India and china etc . There are still lot of room for softball to grow here and that's what the governing body should invest in. 2024 Olympics will be held in France, what will they do to the fields after the Olympics?

Im sure the money that would have to be invested to build a softball and a baseball complex was the number one determining factor in making the decision not to have them in 2024.

Sports come and go in the Olympics. The standards (swimming, track & field, etc.) will always be there, but many sports come and go. I really don't think it limits the success of the sports. Golf, surfing, baseball, etc. are all doing just fine even if they're not always in the Olympics.

Now it's certainly a bummer for fans of the game, as well as the few players who would have played.

The Olympics need to get rid of all of the subjectively judged activities and just have sports. Winners and losers should be obvious and objective, not left to be determined by some shady judge with favorites and an agenda.

Football is not in the Olympics so that makes anything hat is Olympic, less.

Guillotine!

I work for a large French multi national company. The French in general have no idea how popular softball and baseball are around the world. They view both as a strictly American sports.

I’ve said this before but consider we’ll have three North American teams at the Olympics (out of 6) are they wrong? There’s still the very real one possibility there will be two actual American teams and one filled with American players. (If Puerto Rico and Mexico go through. I think this is slim and Canada will be there)

Dissapinted but not surprised. The WBSC focuses on baseball and not softball
