My mother who lives down south was surprised to hear DD 3 has played softball in the snow. She was even more surprised that some of those games were May or even early June.

We start Monday after school. Looks like we might be down in numbers for the 1st time ever. We had 18 at open gym yesterday. Typically, we get high 20s for open gym. Our school is a state contender year in and out in that evil sport soccccccc , I can't even say it and so, a lot of the talent has started going that way.

I know we all should say "Well, that's fine. Let them choose what sport they like. At least they're being active and having." We should say that, but stupid dumb soccer.

I don't know how good of a coach I am, but we're going to have 35-37 girls at tryouts and last I checked, the soccer sign-up sheet had 3 names on it. And one of those is coming to the softball tryout. At the very least, I sure can promote softball and make it seem like more fun than soccer. I consider that a major victory even if we are not a very good team.

it's a balmy 14F with a wind chill around -20F today....out in the school parking lot there's 15' piles of snow, with a crusty 8-10" covering the field

conditioning starts 3/18, with full tryouts/practice (not enough girls for cuts) on 3/25.....we generally don't get outside until the 2nd week of April, minimum......and then some of those days really, really suck
