Sorry to hear the news. I have lots of respect for how she fought through last year and look forward to seeing her suit up next season. My DD really looks up to Kat and the pitching staff. Maybe we'll run into her at a game.

Please make a point to introduce yourself if you are at any home games this season. We plan to be there for most of them.

Both horrible news but good news to hear she's done the surgery and will recuperate. I look forward to hearing and seeing her future success when she returns.

Unfortunately a torn labrum will never heal on its own, so surgery was inevitable, it was just a matter of when.

That's a shame. Can't believe how tough she was fighting through that last year. Has to be killing her to be out and not be able to build on successful first season.

While I realize this is early and with the demands of collegiate sports, is her goal to graduate in four years? I assume she will be a red-shirt sophomore and junior academically.

Do you think she'll use her 4th year of eligibility?

Too far out and too soon, I'm sure. Really sorry to hear about the injury/recovery.

I know my plan is for her to still graduate in 4 years! LOL Not sure what she will do with the 4th year of eligibility.

Surgery...Sooner is better than later...

I'm a poster child for later is not better than sooner.

Best of luck, and we will all be cheering her on when she returns!

On the way to tryout for a new team yesterday, I asked my 10 year old daughter what softball player she looked up to. She's tall, blonde, and a catcher, so I figured I knew the answer. She surprised me by saying "Number 7 who threw the first pitch for Duke." We're guilty of streaming quite a few Duke games early last year. I wish her a speedy recovery. She's got a little fan out here in Texas looking forward to her stepping on the field again.
