My girl was told that the 3 universities that she wants to go to, USC, Pepperdine, UC Irvine, do not have softball teams.
As I and my boys went/go to USC I already knew that in spite of having the most successful baseball program in ncaa history, the Trojans don't have a softball program but the other 2 were shocking.
On the way home I asked her what schools she would list as her top 3 when she has her next meeting with the coordinator and she told me that those schools need to start softball teams

Google is your friend. Before meeting with your recruiting coordinator she/you should be researching schools of interest.

The NCAA, NAIA and NJCAA websites all have records of ALL college softball teams reporting scores in all their divisions. It is as a definitive list as you can find of programs and results.

Building her list will take a little time and research, but it is an important exercise. The time spent with the web searching will let her explore the info about different colleges, including locations, majors, programs, coach backgrounds, and where the girls on the softball team roster come from and what they are majoring in, etc. Once the list is built, the Softball Bound app is great for keeping up with coach names, NCAA division (or NAIA), school size, average SAT score, costs, etc. When my daughter meets a coach she likes at a clinic or a showcase she sometimes will add a school she hadn't considered before, and the coaching changes that happen might also lead her to change her list.

She won't be going to a JC.
She won't watch college softball, her travel teams have gone to Mary Nutter the last couple seasons but she isn't ever interested in watching the college games.

She hears all the time that kids who leave California to play for other states schools are traitors, granted it's always about football and baseball players but it's what she has heard her whole life around the house.
Stanford, UC Santa Barbara, Loyola Marymount.... maybe Fullerton or Fresno State will likely become her leading teams now. I just thought it was funny that they asked her to name her top 3 and none of them have softball.

Who knows, she's in 7th grade, maybe they will start a program

12 year old girl who doesn't want to watch sports on TV. Can't be that shocking. She loves playing softball but doesn't care to watch it.
I'm certainly not going to turn the TV on to watch girls sports.
I knew USC didn't play softball, they didn't really play any girls sports other than basketball when I was at USC, in the last 12 years or so they started girls water polo, beach volleyball, girls lacrosse and soccer but I never watched any of the games
