Just curious if anyone knows how to break down video into a bunch of still images. Looking for just breaking down about 10 secs of video which would be hundreds of stills I assume depending on frame rate.

The reason for this is when I watch a video play back on my I-phone or YouTube the video is blurry especially during the whip phase of a pitch for example. Hoping I can somehow break that down into a bunch of clear still shots.

Any thoughts? Software recommendations? Etc. ?

Google Gif Optimizer. Go to site Ezgif.com download video with video to gif option. Then select spilt option. That will give you every frame of video. Really good site, slow, but I use it often

Thanks, I've been looking for something like this also...my "old" Iphone 6 will do 240fps at 720p but that whip stage is pretty dang fast.

The quality of the still image will be totally dependent on the resolution of the video and any other processing steps along the way. I can easily grab still frames from my iPhone 7 video (play video, pause, scroll to desired frame, screen capture), but it's never close to the same resolution/clarity of a pic taken with the still camera. That said, it's not too bad (this one was also cropped quite a bit, and is a link from imgur)...

Using VLC Player, you can use the E key to advance frame by frame. Then Control S to save the active frame to image. Be prepared to not be as pleased with the quality as compared to a normal still camera shot.

Thanks for the feedback! Has me thinking now that perhaps "BURST" mode on my iphone with pictures might be worth a shot. Probably get 30 or 40 stills in a pitching motion. Will have to give it a try and see if some of the blur is gone.

Each frame is a still. If the frame is blurred, there's no way to clean it up. Use better lighting, change the settings or get a better phone or camera for good stills.

I have a Samsung and if you hold down the camera button, it will take burst shots. I've found they come out pretty good a lot of the time. I use it for pitching action shots sometimes.
