Nor Cal Metros or Sacramento Metro/ California East and North of Bay Area?

Haven't talked to other leagues yet, but interest in out fall ball program is down, except for our 2009s. This is Santa Clara County.

It's going to be interesting to see how many teams sign up for 12U tourneys, locally. I've talked to a few people, nobody remembers seeing so many teams fold or merge in one division, where in 14U the numbers just exploded.

Our 10u and 12u teams are signed up for 3 FB Tournaments, but so far the sign up numbers are pretty dismal. I know a few other teams who are also playing, but since tryouts just wrapped up this past weekend, I’d imagine tournaments will now start filling up I hope.

Are you all talking NSA, USA, USSSA, PGF??? We are new team that started this year in a small town called Escalon. It seems south of us Modesto, Turlock, Merced, Fresno, Bakersfiled, Clovis alot of teams play NSA. We played NSA exclusively because we are a new team with little tournament experience. It seems up North Sac and North have more teams that play USA and USSSA. There are 13 12u teams in the Sac USSSA tournament this weekend. That seems pretty good. The Pleasanton USSSA only has 4 12u teams. USA tourney in Lincoln looks like it only has 16 and 18's. NSA in Modesto only has 4 12u teams entered. NSA in Hanford has 7 12U teams. I am hoping we are competitive enough to play some USSSA this year. NSA has some issues at times with field scheduling and umpires.

my 2 cents

Shaun: you are spot on with your comments about NSA, they are strong between Bakersfield and Modesto. In Sac, they struggle to get enough teams for each division. You are right that USSSA is big in Sacramento, but USA doesn't usually draw well unless they are holding a showcase, and the 14-18's are the teams that go to those more so than a 12U team (the 12's don't showcase, but they advertise that they will hold a regular tourney for the younger ages if enough teams sign up. PGF attracts a lot of teams from the Bay Area as well as Sac, but even their event this year is a lot smaller for the 12U division than it was in the past. We'll see if the numbers increase.

My comments about the lack of 12U teams was just a reflection of the lack of teams holding tryouts for this age group. There were a lot less teams in the greater Sacramento area this fall. In December, we hit 7 tryouts within an easy driving distance. In August, there were very few to pick from. Even though we weren't really interested in jumping to a new team, I do keep my eye out for opportunities and enjoy trying to guess where everyone lands. While there were a few teams holding tryouts in Folsom, most of the tryouts were either in Lincoln, Modesto, Tracy, Brentwood, etc. I really didn't see anything in Lodi, very little in Stockton, and maybe 3 tryouts in Rocklin or Roseville. With traffic and work, I can't really commit to going to some places, so our options are limited, but the market for 12U has definitely shrunk.

Wow...you have way more options then our neck of the woods in the north Bay Area. We have to go south or east an hour to join elite teams. I believe some have gone as far as Sacramento to play on a team. Crazy!

Where are you looking for tryout announcements? I have seen alot of tryouts recently on facebook. I believe most are probably over now though. I remember seeing all of the All American Sports Academy teams and Universal had tryouts but it was only posted on their facebook page and website. I think alot of organizations are moving to announcing tryouts and everything else on their facebook pages. Alot of teams are posting their rosters at the end of tryouts on facebook. Hopefully they are giving the parents a call along with that. It seems everything that is on Hey Bucket.com is for the older age groups lately.
