DD is on a team with less than stellar players, but she is incredibly happy with the coaches. Playing middle infield she has made tremendous progress with the excellent coaching she has received. Is staying with great coaches worth it if the team does not play well. Should she look for another team to be challenged by her teammates, even if it means giving up such great coaches?

If the other players improve as well, I would stay right there. If the others are so weak tour daughter can't throw hard, work situational plays with proper backups etc. Then I would look around.

If you are playing A level not sure, they are for the most part good.

If b or c working towards A, kids will leave you before coach can get you there.

If I recall, your DD is still fairly young. That being the case, stay with the excellent coaching and a team she loves being on. Learning the game and proper mechanics is more important that win-loss record.

She is not concerned with the win-loss record, she is feeling that playing for a team where she is the strongest player on the team, she is not being challenged by teammates who are better than her.

She is consistently saying to me she does not want to be the strongest or weakest player on the team, she wants to be right in the middle.

Great coaching is nearly non-existent. She needs to decide what's best for her. Tagging along or learning

DD is in a similar situation. She spent 4 years on a team with a “nice guy” as a coach. But he knew very little about coaching softball. Last year she made a change to a team with amazing coaching. Practices are well run, the coach knows each girl’s strength and weaknesses and works to make the TEAM better. However it soon became apparent that even with the lack of coaching for the past 4 years DD was the best player on the team. The coach recognized this as well and had her play up with his older team on several occasions and even had her go to the WFC in KC with the older team. The plan all along was for her to move to the older team this year but the coach made the difficult decision of letting that team go. So DD was stuck either staying with the amazing coaching and once again being the best player or moving on and finding a new team again. Ultimately she decided to stay. It may be frustrating at times, but she knows she will get good coaching and we know we like the girls and families. I don’t think you can ever know for sure that you make the right decision - but for DD just knowing the quality of coaching she will receive this year was enough to convince her to stay. Good luck with your decision!

Is her team aiming to get better? I imagine they must be, if the coaches are strong. It could be a very rewarding experience helping to grow a team that can compete. I disagree about ignoring wins-losses. Playing winning softball should be the goal. You don't always have to win, but you have to play in a way that does everything you can to do so. That's the line I'd watch for. Also-do the other girls want to be there/get better/compete? Or just happy to be there? At some point you have to compete against the best to be the best.

The only problem I would have would be if the coaches were reluctant to play against good teams because of the relative weakness of her team. As a position player she needs to be facing
the best pitching she can. DD's 10U team is a decent B team, and the coaching is average at best, but this spring they played against the best 10U teams in the area and that was the main
reason I moved my DD from rec. Personally I didn't need good coaching for my DD she plays MI as well and I can teach her what she needs to know to play there. What I cannot do
is challenge her at the plate as you can only get so much out of front toss from a 43 year old man
