Hube,

Here's my kit.

1. Activeon CX Action Camera $49.99
2. Lynk Spyder Mount
3. 10,000 mAh battery (I got as a work anniversary gift)
4. 64 GB Card bought on Black Friday
5. Two 32 GB Cards bought on previous Black Friday
6. 2 TB Hard Drive bought at retail price because I suddenly ran out of computer HD space.

Currently got two fall/spring/summer seasons worth of footage.

As you can see, I'm very much on a budget (or I'm really that cheap). A little advanced planning, and you can get the whole kit for less than a Go Pro Hero 5. Keep in mind the GPH5 is really nice. I'm happy with my cheap Activeon CX, but the zoom setting is not quite right such that I can't get both 1st and 3rd base in the picture at the same time. If we run into each other this fall, I'll show you my setup.

As an AC, my biggest problem is remembering the camera is on the fence. Many times I've left it recording hours after our game was done.

Back on the dirt...
Gopro hero 5
lynkspydr
external battery
lowes battery pouch
7 sd cards 3 32 4 64 usually one game per 32 or 2 bracket games per 64 unless 90 min games then its close
ipad or iphone to control camera

Still working on a consistent system to broadcast and record. That camera above looks interesting for sure but that price tag....

When at some fields I can stop the recording between innings so the clips are broken up by inning. But sometimes its too far and I have to just let it play. I like the old Splice app from gopro for simple editing of clips .

Don't forget to have someone with little knowledge of the game who likes to yell all the time situated near the camera.

My camcorder records in 5.1 surround. EVERYTHING anyone says near it gets picked up. It's funny the stuff you hear when you walk away from the camcorder and later listen in. When my DD plays on her all girls baseball team vs the boys, it can get downright nasty and disgusting when you later watch/listen.

I use the x/y mic from the Polsen GPMK-22 kit on my GoPro, and it does a nice job de-emphasizing crowd sounds from behind the fence. It isn't as narrowly focused as the shotgun mic in the kit, but it picks up sound in front of the camera better than what is behind. Also, I can wrap it in a couple layers of foam to try and cut down wind noise.

There's no way I could have set up recording devices as an AC. There's just no time, and if I did I would have forgotten it. I left my net more than once this year and had to go back. Now that my AC days are over I have time I'm trying to fill while at the ballpark. I have become the team photographer and I guess now the videographer. I can't stand sitting around, so it works out for me.

We will be in Tri-Cities Oct 12-15 for the USA Preps Exposure. You playing that one?

I do it as an AC but I usually try to set it up prior to us getting on the field. If we have to move and play again immediately, the other coaches know that I need to be free to set it up.

GoPro
LynkSpyder (agree about the imitations: don't do it; this thing is worth more than he charges for it)
Back up battery pack & something to connect it to the fence
A large SD card - the files are huge. Ours is 128 GB. Get one off the recommended list from GoPro or you will regret it when an SD card error eats your entire championship game.

We use the old GoPro editing software. I don't think you can get it officially anymore. I have it from our old GoPro but I'm sure there are sources for it online still. IMO it is much better than their new light version, though it's still terrible. We post highlights mostly. We used to post whole games and we always removed the sound for those.
