Have any of you batting or pitching coaches set up video cameras in a batting cage or pitching cage, and had the batter/pitcher watch the video play backs with a full size TV right there next to the cage?

I talking about on a full sized 55" or 65" HD TV, not on their cell phone screens

Or how about this, have a video camera on a delay so the batter can hit the slow tossed ball OR off of a tee and then watch a delayed recoding of themselves 5 seconds after they swing the bat?

Anyone doing this?

If so, what equipment and apps are needed to do it?

Why do I want to do this?...So my DDs can watch themselves swing the bat and make corrections or re-inforce what they are doing right, while I'm not there...

AND so they can see what I'm trying to tell they they are doing right or wrong...

Thanks

Most newer tv and cell phone have some kind of screen linking feature that can accomplish this. Anything i have on my phone can be brocast to by my phone to tv via smart link.

Samsung has that...

Are there any apps out there that have a delay or a control that one DD could operate while putting a new ball on the tee?...

Hit the ball...watch the video...hit the ball...watch the video...

Anything like that?

I use an app called technique for my phone she would have to turn it on and off manually but it's a nice app for slow motion exedra

You may just view this as a "thanks for nothing" post - but yes - there is an app somewhere that does that.

But don't get your hopes up, as I can't remember where I heard or read about it. I want to say it was on one of the more recent Baseball Rebellion podcasts. Maybe Youth Baseball Edge? It worked as you described - it would show you a 3 second or so delayed playback.

Just did a quick google search on "delayed playback app" - I think it was "Replay It" that was discussed or reviewed - says exclusively for Chrome - I'm sure there's a few dozen similar for iOS.

Not sure how any app would translate to a 60" (but with 720p being low-end these days, maybe size (finally!) doesn't matter? :) ) - probably easiest to use on a tablet.

Thanks Gags!
I'll look into the app.

But ya, I want it displayed on a large TV next to the cage in our basement.

Being able to record their swing and have them see it immediately can give some great feed back to them.
If they can learn a dance move by shear mimicry and copycatting on TV, why couldn't they improve their swing in the same manner?

Haven't read above...sorry if it was mentioned. Coach's eye is (or was...haven't used in a while) great for analysing swings. Maybe get an HDMI adapter for your phone and record and review that way. Works on tablet too. But you would need someone to start and stop the recording.

Seems like all you need is a stand alone DVR that can pause/resume/rewind a live signal. Now, since most cable boxes now include a built in DVR, stand alone units are not common, but you might find like an old DVR unit on Ebay that would work.

Another option is a security system DVR, but not sure if the playback options are going to be as flexible. I've seen a security DVR that had a 30 second delayed playback, but not sure if you can get it down to 5 seconds. The security DVR would be interesting, because you could get a 4 channel unit, with up to four HD cameras, so she could record/playback multiple views of same swing. Front, side, back, etc...

Hey guys, thanks for the replies!

We bought a new Samsung TV today ( first new TV in 7 years), and we tried out the SmartCast Feature.
Watching the Coach's Eye Videos on the TV is awesome....and, the girsl can see alot easier the positives and negatives of their swings...

They can't watch it on a delay (semi-real time), but it's a start.

DD2 literally said, "Dayuuum" when she say her wrists roll every once in a while.
In a funny voice she says," gotta work on that!"

Any other ideas DFP-ers?
