DD is a late 2001 and until this year we played alot of USSSA so based on their age rules we mentally planned on her going to 18U this fall as she would not be 16U eligible.

With that said, a friend of mine just told me that USA/ASA and Triple Crown has different age cutoffs than USSSA and she can play 16U through the end of the year with ASA and Trip C but only 18U with USSSA.

First, is this correct which I believe it is? And if it is, why can't they all get on the same page.....

Second, based on new D1 recruiting rules, what do you think the best age division to play in the Fall will be? She will be a junior so she will be recruiting eligible if you will.

I think we will likely play in both divisions but would appreciate your thoughts.

There is a reason a competent doctor will never diagnose your headache over the phone. There is a more to it and until you have ALL of the information any opinion is unfounded. Plenty of people will tell you what they may believe or how it works back home but it is pure conjecture.

You need to have a sound recruiting plan. If you have that, it really does matter who she plays for or what age group. Your best bet are folks from your area who have been there and done that. Seek out people who have actually had kids recruited to DreamU. Go to a game or two and ask questions. It is easy to spot the parents of current players and most will speak very freely about how their DD got recruited. These parents and players at the school are a wealth of real world knowledge.

Camps, especially given the new recruiting rules, is where you need to start. I would take her list of schools and get signed up ASAP. At the same time find out which showcases the coaches will attend. Believe it or not if you ask they will be happy to tell you. Then pick the team and age group that best fits your DD's recruiting strategy. Just as you would not ask someone for parenting advice, beware of any advice from anyone who has never actually been through the process.
