Just behind home plate
I had to talk about some dumb things that happened that I just don't understand and being excited to fly for the first time to Texas.

Here's the dumb thing that happened today. I had lifeguard duty late this morning into this afternoon. We really didn't have a whole lot happen...had to make one or two rescues...but no one needing CPR or anything like that. But I went home an hour or so before practice. I just changed into a tank top which is a little lower cut in the armpits than other shirts I have and shorts. I went to the practice facility where we have our practices and some of our games. I really didn't think much about the shirt until some parents and stuff started yelling. I look and here's part of my sports bra showing! I didn't think much about the cut of the shirt since I was in a hurry and needed to get to practice. I felt kinda embarrassed. Thankfully I didn't go to practice in my usual lifeguarding outfit...a bikini :).

But I'm excited about getting to fly to Texas Thursday morning. Too bad my parents aren't able to fly down and see us play. The biggest thing I'm excited for is I get to see my aunt, uncle and cousins on my mom's side of the family who live where we're playing! I'm looking forward to seeing them as I haven't seen them since Christmas two years ago. I don't remember ever seeing their place...so I'm looking forward to seeing them. Plus, they'll be filming me play and send the video back to mom and dad so they get to see.

I guess that's my story for today...

Hoping things go well in final prep to leave tomorrow.

Oh, do you guys have any advice for first time fliers? I imagine there are quite a few stories on here of you guys having to fly for vacations, tournaments or work.

Gasp not your sports bra showing!! (insert biggest eye roll)

I'll leave the flying part to some of the others but as far as Texas goes. Big or buy a Frog Togg. It will be hotter than you could imagine and if you are playing on turf, the turf will be 20-30 degrees hotter. If you are the catcher stay super hydrated. Frog Togg under the gear.

The less clothes the better in Texas. Especially this time of year. No one would bat a lash about your sports bra showing here.

I agree with the frog togg and I would buy multiples. I usually carry 3 in a gallon ziplock bag with some water so the ice doesn't stick to them in the cooler. Freeze your water bottles the night before. Things melt real fast out here.

We have a cooler at the end of our bench with all of the Frogg Toggs in them. Water, Ice and witch Hazel I think in the mix. Inning ends and the FT's go on.

I had to re-read what you posted Gabby. Sports Bra no big deal. I thought I missed something. Good luck in Texas!

What does the witch hazel do? Is it like instant cooling relief? Or does it just stop the ice from sticking? Someone recommended to me spirit of ammonia (says it's like instant cold). I'm kinda leery on trying that.

Oh, and you need to hydrate starting like two days ago, but take some pedialyte because it's gonna be HOT and HUMID all weekend. I'm not sure what part of the country you are from but the sun is no joke for someone who's lived here all her life and the pedialyte will help you if you are feeling sluggish or becoming dehydrated.

It's a mix of witch hazel and spirit of ammonia, it helps it to evaporate faster. The evaporation actually helps to cool you. Old school stuff right there. Used it when I was a kid and always worked. Just need to make sure it's 95% water.
And old hunting trick for hot dogs is to run that on their paws and ears. Same thing helps to cool them down.
