When you are in the Mid Atlantic you prepare for snow and extreme heat... just a shout out to all the catchers out their and those who might have filled in an inning or two to help their teams this weekend! Thanks to the teams who who recognized our DDs efforts this weekend!

I don't know how my catcher DD does it in the GA heat, honestly. I'm generally over there in the shade and still melting and she's got long pants (often black) plus the gear on. Not a place I would want to be. Our catcher girls are bad mama jammas, that's for sure!

I think about it all the time. I'm sitting there in light clothes, under an umbrella, sitting, and I feel like I'm going to die. I really do not know how they do it. For the record, I couldn't have done it at 11 either. I'm just a wimp I guess.

Dd12’s HC rotates her and another player between C and 3B on hot days which is pretty much March-October here in southeast Texas.

My 2 catchers always brought a dedicated cooler with ice water and ziplock backs with dish towels in them (wet the towels before going in the bags...bags keep ice from sticking to the towels). Yea there frog togs that do the same thing. But they'd rather have several towels they can rotate over 1 or 2 togs.

And yes....much respect to catchers on any day; but especially on a hot day.

They are young, not withering away like old people. But I think the biggest thing is priorities. They've got something other than the heat on their mind. That is my issue as an umpire. As long as there was play, my mind was on the game and my responsibilities. The moment the third out was complete, it was look for some shade if available. If not, get out on the grass, take a drink of water and find something to look at and try to keep my mind off the heat.
