But at least they're not being strict about the outside stuff. They aren't even really checking. DH had one large and one XL water cooler in the wagon today and they just scanned his pass and didn't even look in the wagon. If we weren't already sneaky types it would be pretty bad though.

Or at least vending machines for drinks and ice. That sounds crazy. In a situation like that, I'd even be willing to pay a small fee to bring my own cooler in. If you can't handle the demand, get rid of the rule!

Exactly! I don't think I'd want to play in this one again. We've done USFA (twice), and SEAA in Pigeon Forge, and both were a good bit cheaper than this one with all its rules and stay to play. Plus we're a very young first year team, and we intentionally signed up for a B-level world series. There are several teams here that should be playing A. But, it is what it is and we're having a lot of fun. We're such a young team, it's not like we were going to win it even without any sandbaggers. But we're 2-1 in pool and they're playing so well. Bracket starts tomorrow.

Here's something strange. USSSA provides the balls so we're all hitting the same ones. They sound so flat coming off the bat and there is very little pop. I've heard a bunch of teams talking about it. I wonder if they were stored in a humid shed or something.

Final update for anyone who's interested. We finished 3-3. 2-1 in pool and 1-2 in bracket. As usual, killer defense and pitching but not much hitting going on. We only had one bad inning (defensively) all week and it was our very first inning of the week - and led to our only big loss (10 to 3 I think it was). We were one of two 11U teams in the whole thing and finished around the middle of the pack (I think 11th or so out of 22 teams). I'm really pleased. My goal was just to win A game. Just one. Then we won 2 pool so I changed my goal to win one bracket game. And they did it (it was a really good game too, 2-1 final score). We played some really nice teams with great players and parents, congratulating each other after games and being great sports. There were a couple that were less pleasant, but there always are. Overall everyone was great.

My DD thinks SEAA in Pigeon Forge was more fun, but I think it was all the stuff to do there was more her cup of tea. But we got some beach time and a lot of pool time, and the kids have had a blast overall. I still say I would not choose to do this one again; on the tourney side the negatives outweighed the positives. But it was a good experience and I'm glad we did it.

I’ve been meaning to follow up and see how your experience went. I have to agree with you, I don’t think I’d want to return.

First of all, the hotel we stayed at was not suited for large groups. The pool was small with no real areas to hang out.

I was extremely disappointed with the concessions and disgusting bathrooms. If you weren’t in the main stadium, it was just like any normal tournament, except most of us flew down to be there. Many people brought in items we were told were not allowed. They really should have a chair/tent rental going on for out of state players.

Even in the main stadium, there was no announcer or walk up song.

DD’s team won all 3 pool games, but lost 2 back to back in bracket play. Not their finest moment and pretty disappointing to watch. It is ok to lose, if it is a good loss, but they were not playing anywhere near their best.

I did love watching the Pride play. It was amazing to see those girls upfront. They are all so wonderful hanging around afterwards to sign autographs!

The Pride players were a HUGE plus, that's for sure. They were great!!

We found out the team that won in our B division had 6 players that were on an A team this year; I think their team finished their year then this team added them all to their roster for the WS. I know of another team who played C this year in their WS and had an A level pitcher as a pick up who pretty much pitched their entire bracket. I wonder how teams get away with this??? I thought there were rules for these things.
