You TB parents or players can ignore me.

New to TB.

Last Friday DH, got home about 10:30.

Saturday back at park at 10, home at 10.

We lost so had Sunday off.

Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday DH. Got home about 10:30 or 11:00 every night.

DD is pitching again we need practice but there is no time and she is tired.

I do not know how people do this.

Yeah. DD started in 2nd year 8U. So I guess we're about to go into our 4th year of it. We love but I still have plenty of times when I think our life would be a lot easier without it. The commitment is insane.

I'm pretty sure we've all said it or thought it at one time or another for various different reasons! For the first time in over 5 years we're taking the whole month of June off, family vacation, a week long church camp at the university where she'll actually be playing ball, and she just left this morning for a week long mission trip to Honduras with our church!

And I (me) am missing it a ton, never went this long without playing tournament ball!

well one of the reasons we play open and B level ball is because it's a good fit for my DD and if we have a crazy week where she can't get any pitching practice in she can still be at the level she needs to be for the next weekend. If she can't find a catcher she will go run the hill in front of our house, do a yoga video or something like that, etc. But she can still go out and compete and help her team. I'm guessing there aren't a lot of gold or A level pitchers that can miss all their pitching practice for the week and still do their thing week in and week out.

This is why when asked over the years what we will do if my DD doesn't make her league's summer team, we answer 'Relax and enjoy our summer.'

I remember talking to someone on a Monday after a long weekend. He asked what I did and I said we had 3 games on Saturday and 3 games on Sunday. He looked at me and said that really must have been awful. I responded with "It was, losing in the semis is never fun".

What you don't like spending 10 hours outside in the 100 degree heat on your day off?
I love watching her play...everything else I could live without. But always give my best for her.

It takes a ton of sacrifice as a family to support a travel player, especially when they get older and start traveling around the country. We will be away four weeks this summer for showcases, that's all of my vacation time for the year. It's not easy (or cheap).

All that said, there is no place I'd rather be than at the fields watching them play. My older DD is in college playing now and the juice is definitely worth the squeeze.

I won't do the full-blown travel around the country thing. For me, it's not worth the time, effort, and money that would be expended. Fortunately, we live in an area where there are usually good tournaments where teams from other places come to play US. Despite this, I know of teams at the same competitive level as ours that travel out of the local area almost every weekend. I don't get it, and wonder why parents would put up with it.
