They have one of the top curling clubs in the world here in the Madison area.

As for soccer, I knew someone who got a concussion playing the game. I still remember once when I had a date to a world series game, dating a soccer goalie at the time. I was scared I was going to miss the game. The game went into overtime, and then she got kicked in the stomach right before time expired.

I played chess in HS. No contact there.

My DDs have received concussions playing Soccer (broken noses are not uncommon), figure skating, snow tubing, picking up a bag of chips at the wrong time and yes, even playing softball.
If youre serious about non-contact sport, Id recommend tennis. Great cardio and she can play it for the rest of her life! Lots of folks like golf too, but that can get expensive.

Good luck with the surgery! My DD is going in for her 2nd T.O.S. surgery next week.

I hope for a full and complete recovery.

I remember what my brother told me when I busted my arm biking. You can either get injured doing something fun, or be a couch potato and die of a heart attack.

My brother is a professor at Oregon State. His most famous lecture is why curve balls curve. It's all fluid mechanics.

Believe it or not Trapshooting might be the safest sport or activity a kid can take part in.

My late uncle was a good skeet shooter. He also made turkey calls. He had a lot of fun with skeet shooting. His grandson talked about how cool it was when the old guy would enter the skeet shooting range, and everyone treated him with great respect.

Some people are good at everything: there are twin brothers from Illinois who were on the National Team for rifle shooting in high school. They were about 6'5", and went to Wisconsin for college. The Wisconsin coaches are famous for going to freshman events, finding tall people, and recruiting them for the rowing team. The Wisconsin team even won Nationals when they rowed for the Badgers.

Long story short, they went to the Olympics in 2012.

I know there is a biathalon for skiing and shooting. If there were a biathalon for rowing and shooting, these guys would win hands down.

They should look up my 6'10" son! He'd probably sink the boat though.

People very tall, such as the size of your kids, often find themselves as swimmers, basketball players, pitchers or rowers. DS has a friend on the Wisconsin team who is 6'8". I saw them talking together at a race in Indiana last fall. My poor 6' son looked short.

It also depends a lot on the wingspan. A rower who is 6'5" with a 6'7" wingspan has an advantage over someone who is 6'7" with a 6'5" wingspan. It has to do with torque. A rower with longer arms can get more torque than one with shorter arms. Long legs help as well, but in a different way.

Basically, someone who looks like Michael Phelps would be the ideal rower.
