Is with a very heavy heart that we just learned of Chris' unexpected passing. We showed up for DD's pitching lesson today at Chris' WNY Fastpitch Academy and Chris wasn't there. It wasn't like him so we called his phone and left a message. We waited a bit and then figured he must be at one of his DDs' games, so we headed back home. On the way back, we received a call from Mary, Chris' wife, telling us he had a heart attack a short time ago.
We, myself, my DW and DD, can honestly say that Chris was a great coach, a great person, and became a friend to all of us. We will miss him greatly. We still haven't figured out how we are going to break the news to Izzy.
Here is a link to Chris' FB page. You can read for yourselves how many people he touched throughout his time here and how important he was to them and WNY softball. Like all of us, he had softball in his blood. RIP Chris.

That is very sad news. I have had several enjoyable discussions (including PMs) with Chris over the years. I have no doubt that he will be missed by many. My condolences to his family, friends, and students.

So sorry to hear this. He was someone who was always looking for a better way, and to help as many as he could. He will be missed.

Prayers to his wife and family. This is shocking news since he was active here and made exceptional contributions. I was of the opinion that he was still fairly young.

Wow! Prayers to his family. My DD is not a pitcher but I watched a few of his videos so that I can become more educated about proper pitching techniques. I really appreciate his hard work and determination to improve and expound his pitching knowledge. This DFP community is a really cool place that I have come to really rely upon and find comfort and solace during some really loco times. It's my center! This is really a small world. I have come to find 4 different folks that are from my area but also a few folks from my own DD's organization as contributors to this forum.

Of the last 5 funerals I have attended 4 were related to softball families. We really are strong community even as crazy as we are. I would not have it any other way.
