I wish they would implement a challenge system where coaches can ask for a review of 2 plays per game or something like that. In the Florida-UCLA game, the call at the plate was wrong and that cost Florida the game. And the problem is that they show the plays in slow-motion and even the announcers were saying it was a bad call.

That play didn't cost Florida the game. Sure it made it harder, but it is still only half way through the game and they had plenty of time left. There was lots of mistakes all around from all sides that decided the game in the end. As an official that isn't even a blown call - the umpire was right where they were supposed to be and it took a few slow motion replays to suggest that they MAY have got it wrong. Walton argues everything and even he wasn't out there for the 10 minutes of air time he likes to get when something hasn't gone his way.

We have discussed this in other threads, but in the end it primarily is a cost thing. It is not cheap, it involves additional equipment and hiring additional people - and then finding a way to implement it some of the time. One thing they will talk about is this makes you play by different rules at different parks/conferences/teams. Do we do it JUST for the world series or regionals or at parks where it is available? Are we willing to deal with the time suck? And so on. It is a reasonably complex discussion to have.

The other thing becomes WHAT is reviewable. We can take some of baseball's terrible system, but softball has is it's own game. Can we review leaving early on the pitch? Can we review Barnhill flying in the air? Can we review obstruction? And so on...

Florida fan but I don't like replay. Strike zone and illegal pitches were embarrassing. There is noway to hit some of those pitchers for either team. Shows you how good they can hit it when over the plate.

ESPN used to have the K-zone. However, this showed how bad the PU’s zones really were, and they were bad, so they got rid of it. They called IP’s in 2010, but that made for a horrible game to watch, so the stopped.

If I were king, I’d switch to international rules and let them leap and hop to their hearts desire. I’d also bring back the K-zone and have the umpires fix their zones, as they did with MLB. Comply, or you’re gone.

As for the play at the plate, yeah she was tagged out. But you needed the rught camera angle to see it. Umpires try to pick thr best angle to see most plays. He was on the extended 1st base side, which I think was correct, but I’m not sure whe he went up the third base line on the catch. Arent they running 4-man mechanics and PU gets tag ups?

I actually have no problem with the play at the plate. Close play and have no problems with international rules but do have a problem when you have an 10U pitcher called for IP's but want call it in TB, HS, and college. Umpires are going to miss balls and strikes but in the WS it shouldn't be consistently bad.

The outrage over that call annoys me. You have to slow that play riiiiiight down and get the angle from within the infield. It’s a bang bang play and not a blown call.

The umpire however changed his strike zone after throwing Walton out and that was gross.

The call at the plate didn't cost UF the game. BTW, the TH's are not a viable source for rule information and interpretation.

It was a tough call, yes, but it was a 100% obviously wrong call, so yeah, it was blown. There is no argument whatsoever at the runner touched home plate before she was tagged.

Just because it's understandable how a bad, wrong call was made doesn't make the call right.

I don’t agree it was obvious.

Watching it myself I thought she was safe. The first replay I thought she was safe. (The commentators thought so too) That was from the blues view at normal speed.

Once we got the outfield view it became more dicey. And then they started slowing it down. Which is when it became obvious.

At normal speed? It looked safe.
