And the meltdown is complete. I was just talking with DD about how important charging the ball is. Both infielders waited for the ball to come to them. Their body language said they didnt want the ball.

Definitely not Cobra Kai material.

What a train wreck that was. I jumped over to watch after Lorenz HR as I was toggling between UCLA/AZ and Oregon/UK and for the time I was watching I don't recall the coach ever going out to gather the A&M team and calm them down...so while the middle infielders folded under the pressure, it certainly wasn't a shining moment for the coaching staff either in my opinion.

I told my wife the batter could go up without a bat as there was a high likelihood the relief pitcher would walk in the winning run. The coach certainly wasn't setting that relief pitcher up for any success and she responded with some pretty ugly pitches. There wasn't really a hard take in the bunch of pitches.

I was kind of hoping for a Florida free World Series but I guess it isn't to be.

They needed an instant replay in the Texas A &M-Florida game just now!

Seriously - that was a terrible call. What was the PU doing waving his arms as she was making the play in fair territory? She totally caught that ball. Then they were going to leave DeWitt at the plate after the terrible call? It was painful to watch the whole thing go down. Tell me why Lorenz was brought back to first if it was a force out play on DeWitt (because he blindly didn't see her catch the ball)? Then the announcer said Lorenz didn't have to run to 2nd? Um - yeah she did and that is where she was supposed to be. That whole sequence confused the heck out of me and even after the umps gathered they still didn't seem to know what to do.

Regarding the Kentucky/Oregon game - it did look like she tagged her at home. It was a close play but I think she got her glove on her. The ump was right there also.

PU gave the no catch signal. DeWitt was retired at first. Lorenz would have been forced at second, but she return to first where she is now safe because DeWitt was retired.

Everyone was placed correctly given the call on the field of no catch.

She did catch it, though.
