That is the same BS that we heard from umpires for years as to why IP's were not called. Optical illusion, can't see it in real time, blah, blah, blah. Fast forward to this season and the optical illusion seems to have vanished and umpire vision has significantly improved as we regularly see IP's getting called.

Except when it comes to calling a halfway decent strike zone.
Tim Walton and the Gators are like Johnny Bench; one strike zone when on defense and another when on offense. And it is the worst kept secret in College Softball.
Softball needs to go the way of Baseball and have the conference assign umpires and then in tournament time be chosen based on skills not based on whenever is hosting.

I recall watching a game on ESPN two or three years ago. My have even been the championship series of the WCWS. They had the little square strike box imposed on the screen, like they do for baseball. I'd say at least 40% of called balls were fairly fat in the white box.

Needless to say that hasn't made a reappearance.

To me IPs are like traveling in basketball. You've seen it enough that you just know what it looks like.

This year is better than last year as least.

If it makes any of you feel better, they don't call IP in 10U softball here in OK either

Travelling in BB? Yeah, they still call that....on the third extra step :)

Leaping is fully legal in international play. I think it’s only illegal in NCAA rules. I know Gabbie Plain has to adjust (as in Australia we allow leaping now)

I know for me I’m adjusting this off season to only pitch with one foot on the plate which is now legal in international rules too. Most people I know eat even the casual levels are doing it.

But if it’s an IP in NCAA then it should be called.
