Barnhill can and does once she is called. However, her speed decrases 4-5mph when she keeps the drive foot dragging. She can't get as much hip motion if she doesn't go airborne.
Yeah, sort of the idea of the rule.

An injustice is being done to all teams if some umpires enforce the rules and others don't. The reason pitchers can get away with it is that they have been allowed to. Why would coaches demand changes if they know that their pitcher can get away with being illegal. If the rule is the problem, then change it. It hurts the game to have so many people throughout the country know that certain players and programs can break the rules while others are held to playing by the rules.
Just watched Barnhill blatantly leap out about 3', replant and throw. No call on it yet... but we are in Gainsville so we know how that is going to go.
Yeah, sort of the idea of the rule.
Would LOVE to see Tim Walton lose his cool with the umpiring staff from the Northwestern game calling Kelly Barnhill for in IP on every pitch she threw...
I always thought Barnhill was being criticized for leaping. But after watching, you're right, she does a full replant of the pivot foot. That's messed up.
It's not a moot point. The replant allows a double push off with the pivot foot. After the leap, Barnhill basically starts a new pitching motion with the lower body 4-5 feet closer to home plate.

If she commits an IP (leaping) to get into position replant how is the replant relevant with the respect to calling an IP? She has already committed an IP before she replants.
It's all an optical illusion.Yeah, that's it... an optical illusion
