Just behind home plate
Our team had an away game today (a makeup day from all the snow we had this winter in SE PA). We had gotten to the game and the first inning went off without a hitch. The second inning comes around and their No.6 hitter got on base with one out in the inning. Her coaches run the signs and I'm shocked to see her attempt to steal. I get up on the 0-1 pitch and throw to second. She comes in standing and is called out about three steps before she reached second. She jogs back to the dugout. As she is jogging back to the dugout, I hear her coach screaming and everyone sitting on the hill behind the first, third and home wall go silent. Her coach is actually screaming at her for not sliding. When he asks her a question about why she didn't slide, she non chalantly says "I just had my belly button pierced and didn't want to get dirt in it". I mean I'm not immune to getting pierced as I have my 2 holes in each of my lobes and 2 holes in each of my ear cartilage. But after I get out of high school, I would like to get my belly button and nose pierced. She comes back up to bat in the bottom of the fourth and I have my head down while I'm sweeping out dirt with my cleats in the catcher's box. I look at her and said "Do you really have your belly button pierced?" She smiled and said "Yeah." I just said cool and left it at that.

I just had to share that. I had a chuckle out of it.

I am all for the not wanting to mess with the new pierce...haha. But why run then? I would rather not run, and say I missed the sign than run and
not slide and look terrible.

DD has a total of 10 earrings, triples in both ears, 2 cartilage and a forward helix in one and a daith in the other. She’d love to get her belly button pierced but is planning to wait until after she finishes college ball because she tends to dive a lot and doesn’t want to rip it out.

I’m surprised a player got theirs done during the season. Kind of poor timing

I have a total of 8 piercings (2 lobe piercings and 2 helix piercings in each ear) and I had recently started stretching my first lobe piercings. My holes aren't very big. I can still shop at kiosks and Claire's in the mall or like Walmart and Target and still buy earrings and wear them comfortably. A friend, she's like a walking pincushion with I think she told me at last count she has something like 35 piercings. I still think a belly button piercing would be cool...but I'd never get it done while playing softball. If I did it while I was in high school, I think I'd have to do it during cheer season which our tryouts are soon.

Congrats, most catchers are too shy to speak to the other teams batter. Next time a big hitter gets up with the game on the line, ask them - "Do you inhale or exhale when you swing?" Expect a weak ground ball or popup. :)

I've thought about doing that. I've never been a shy girl and have been outgoing. I figure why not strike up a short conversation while were just standing around :).

DD was playing basketball ball and just had her ears pierced. Ref. was insisted she pulled the things out of her ears or she could not play.

Long conversation occurred. We were finally allowed to put duck tape over her ears and she was allowed to play.

DD is not getting a nose or belly ring, I hope. :)

Girls are so much trouble.
