Would you mind a parent being on the the playing field if a player had ADD?

I personally do not think they would not interfering with game.

Like them to play, not if it is on me though.

Kid threw at bat and helmet at player and coach.

Did not swing bat at anyone.

I am worried she is going to hurt someone, 10U.

I would mind. For our little kids a coach stands in the field. I don't think a random parent should be allowed
to assist if that's what they are doing.

That's not okay...as a coach I think you need to talk to the league about what your options are in talking to the parent and the child. That is a safety issue for the other children on the team. If this is a young child's rec league then perhaps a parent as an assistant is okay. If it's an older league then expectations should be set and if they can't be followed then the child should be removed. If another child is injured because of an event you described involving another player it would be a very nasty event for the league involved

Parents are not happy about it but she has been suspended for the year. Dad was there and saw the whole thing.

They already expressed an interest in playing next year and trying to figure out what to do.

Lifetime ban was discussed that seemed a little harsh to me.

So ADD is an excuse to throw a bat and helmet and a player and a coach?

A. Doesn’t sound like ADD

B. As I am assuming this is local rec ball I encourage the league community to work with the parents - they probably need support.

C. When my DD2 was about that age we watched an opposing team coaches daughter have a temper tantrum in the middle of the game and I honestly judged how they handled it. Next year or 2 later we were on that team and that girl was talented player and the family was great. Until you walk the mile in someone else’s shoes...

Keep the communication open and I hope for everyone the family will enjoy softball as much as we all do and it will be part of this child growing and overcoming her challenges.

This child may have ADD, but she also has some serious behavioral issues that need to be addressed. ADD didn't cause the violent outburst.

We have two players who have borderline ADD. One is finally taking meds and is a much more focused player..some of the time. But she’s turned out to be really good now that she’s working on it. Another is one of our better pitchers. Never have I seen them do anything violent.
What position is the player? I wouldn’t want a non player in the IF at all..
