From the what the heck department:

A parent standing behind home plate telling his DD whether the catcher was setting up inside or outside.

The ump called him on it. His DD was embarrassed as much as her coach.

SO:

It is one thing to make notes during the game, and offer your child some assistance after the game. It is another thing to interject yourself *in* the game.

Parents, let your kid succeed or fail on the field based upon her skill as a softball player.

That's pretty lame. Also annoying and similar behavior: the parents who give constant feedback from behind the fence. This seems especially common with pitchers' parents. Once DD told me about a player with a parent like this, "I'm surprised she hasn't quit yet, with the way her dad acts." A nice reminder for me to shhhhh if I want her to keep playing.

That parent gets to join the "MVP" club. Or the Most Volatile Parents club.

The first year that DD played MS ball, there was one girl who played OF and C. Her dad would sit on a bucket right behind her or near her so he could basically tell her what to do and have her call pitches. HC got pretty pissed about it. The last game we played, she ended up pitching one inning - kept throwing IP. We had to replace her since she kept walking in runs. Girl and her dad left after that inning - never to return. She moved schools and we played against her team - her dad was an AC now. So glad we ended up beating them.

She was a good player and it sucked that I feel like her dad would make it so it would be tough for her to be on a team.

I think your over reacting about parents getting involved. At least the parent cares about his dd well being......

I mean last night I saw a Dad tell his son to punch and beat up his own teammate. Then the two dads started to fight too. Police were called and someone got taken to jail.

So see it can be worse !!! LOL

Parents who call pitches for their kid from the stand are pretty lame too.

Yep, but in a case close to us, the dd got a ride to a University and decided to take her parents with her. Yea that coach has no idea what he's getting into. LOL

DD played with one like that too. She got the boot after a year.

We had our share of bad parents but the worst I saw was this very good team who seldom lost. When they did they would just talk down the kids after the game. One time we beat them in the bottom of the 6th (time game) 1-0 on a double that the CF froze before going back on. She might have made the catch but certainly she isn't the reason the lost but to hear them talk it was. The other time was a kid who hit 600 for the weekend and popped up with 2nd and 3rd with 1 out in the last inning down 1. The next batter struck out but a parent on that team told me that the kid let them down by popping up. I asked him if he was serious that she cost them the game and he looked at me like I was nuts.
