Give them a break. They're struggling to even make the SEC tournament right now. Which they'll be hosting, btw.

Wow.. that is not manipulating the system at all. Bringing in a cupcake to get 2 wins to stay above .500 while avoiding a probably 'at-large' team. Nice.

Missouri softball buys out doubleheader vs. Wichita State | The Wichita Eagle

Long term growth in softball needs more depth and teams across the landscape. This doesn't help.

The power conferences are dominating the RPI and they want to keep it that way. The big schools are playing less and less mid tier teams as this will hurt them getting into the tournament. I think that's a big factor.

Wichita State pretty solid.

I would have loved to be Wichita State when that phone call came in. Why stop the bleeding at $5000? I wonder if that is as high as Mizzu would go, or if Wichita didn't push it any harder?

I'm sure they had a buyout already set.

If Missouri ever came calling again that buy out would be MUCH MUCH bigger.

And a home series.
It was scheduled at WSU thus year. I believe they had a DH scheduled at Mizzou last year that was rained out.

I'm sure they did. Doesn't mean you couldn't have fun taking that call. I REALLY hope the selection committee does not reward this move. If they are still on the bubble after beating whoever they play instead of Wichita, they shouldn't make the tournament. Sets a very bad precedent.

It's Mizzu. They will run from any possible difficult situation or conflict and not face adversity. The school set this precedent a few years back so why change now.
