we stay with one HS, too.....a few kids from a few other towns, the class might grow by 15-20 tops......been together, most of them, since K

most play softball.....all of those girls play basketball.....split between FH & soccer

DD will start varsity for 2 sports next year......a good portion of those 12 girls will start at least 1, a couple maybe all 3......they are the group of girls that are bringing back the strong female culture in this school, it is refreshing for many to watch them

happy to be along for the ride....i've coached more than a couple of them since they were 6, 3 of them have had me for travel and now ms & travel since early 10u.......so at least i didn't screw em up!

than first year 14u?

DD1 needed a new mask......all the padding and straps on her original Rip It youth were shot......picked up a Schutt Titanium.....I loved the weight and construction

she said it was "ugly" and that "all her teammates" on both teams had the Rip It

long story short, new Rip It will be here in a few days.....the Schutt is on Ebay with a Buy it Now of $50......or, $25 less than I paid lol

Ummm... You do realized you can buy replacement straps/pads for your rip it masks, right? $25 for the full set.

Welcome to the teenage years, as yes it will probably get worse before it gets better. Looking for a car when she turns 16 will be of fun lol :)

Regarding sports equipment, if it's my kids primary sport (softball for DD and basketball for DS) I buy them the best equipment I can afford. If DD wants the newest Easton Ghost, I will get it for her; if DS wants the new Air Jordan shoes and thinks they make him play better on the court, I will get them for him. In the big picture, the equipment is the least expensive part of the game. The monthly dues, the private hitting and pitching lessons are where the costs get really expensive.

Part of sports is having confidence in not only your skills but also confidence in your equipment. If you think you are a better hitter with x bat, then by all means lets get you that bat. My DD first composite bat was the Easton Synge and she and her teammates called it the "magic bat".

Lastly, I remember as a kid playing soccer, there was an expensive adidas brand of soccer cleats called "Keegan Gold's" made out of kangaroo hide (this was the 1980's) and when we wore them, its was like no one was going to stop us from scoring goals.

Ah, the good old days when you just say I bought this or that for you and they'd be happy and appreciative...

It can get worse. A lot worse. Boys, vaping, alcohol, drugs, bad behavior in school to name a few. I hope none of these happen to you. (Except the boys. That's going to happen).
