Glad to hear it. I just hope the NCAA Board of Directors approves it quickly too. Otherwise, this summer is going to be a feeding frenzy as everyone tries to lock up whatever players they can before the new rule takes effect. Probably including some of the people who advocated for the rule.

Anyone have any idea on a timeline for NCAA Board voting on this? Is this something they have to vote on in three months, six months, one year? And my understanding is they can modify the rule from how it is written, correct?

The vote is supposed to take place April 25th.

I hadn't heard the bit about passing messages through a third party (e.g., TB and HS coaches) as constituting a violation. That should cut down on some of the shenanigans to circumvent the rules, right? I do kind of feel sorry for these 2021 and 2022 players who have verbal commitments and now can't communicate with the coach for a couple of years, but overall, I think it sounds like a good thing.

Once its voted on next week if it passes it goes into effect immediately. The only ones I really see impacted are the class of 2021 that freshmen right now. Many of them like my DD are in the middle of the process.

So what does it mean about the contact they can have at camps? Are camps going to be considered non-recruiting?

The coaches can talk to players. They can give instruction. They just can't talk about recruiting until after 9/1 Jr. year.
