Is this something I should seriously consider?

DD plays on a 1st yr 14s team. They are pretty good and have some real talent. They definitely hang with most of the 2nd year teams in the area. They have a sister team that is 2nd year 14s but plays at 16s locally because they don’t have any real competition at 14s in state. They win almost every in state tourney they play - even playing up. DD played with the older team back in November where they earned a berth to the USEAS-WFC in KC this year. We never thought about it again.

This weekend the coach asked DD if she would be interested in joining them in KC this summer.

So - my question - this is a lot of $$ for a week in Kansas in July (probably not my top vacation spot - sorry!) but is this something we should make happen? I have to find a diplomatic way to ask if she will play or just stack the bench. The team has 11 rostered so it is not a large team.

We are going to KC in May with her team and we have another out of state tourney in the PNW, plus we always do the Sparkler. So she does get to travel some and play some good competition.

Decisions, decisions! Who has been...is it different/better than OKC (did that last year).

I would just be blunt and ask the coach how much time he/she thinks DD will get. A good coach will be honest with you.

Diplomatic way: "You have a lot of talent on the team. Will my DD play or just sit the bench? How much playing time?"

This has quickly become one of the top events in the country. If your DD has a chance at going, even as a role player, she should be there. The Sparkler doesn't even begin to compare to the caliber of teams you'll see in KC.
