Anyone's DD participate in any of the Jamborees or take the On Deck ODM testing/camps?

Wondering how valuable it is from a recruiting standpoint? With so many camps, clinics, "combines", trying to weed out anything that wouldnt be valuable.

OnDeck camps are still the most respected out there. They’ve been watered down somewhat as they’ve expanded, but still very worthwhile.

And just from a personal standpoint, I have a tremendous amount of respect for them, especially Derek Allister. A couple of years ago I reached out to them regarding a unique situation and within 15 minutes I received a phone call directly from Mr. Allister offering his personal assistance. I'm nobody to him, and I'm nobody of any relevance in the softball world other than being a softball dad and sometime coach, and he took the time to call me to personally help with the situation. I was absolutely floored with his generosity. It affirmed to me that they are trying to provide a genuine and relevant service, which is oftentimes hard to find.

I am not sure if you know this are not so I will say it anyway. The ultimate goal is to get an invite to a Jamboree. The tryout doesn’t offer any exposure except for whom ever the instructor is at the tryout, whether it be Mr. Allister or someone else. The Jamboree is where they will have coaches in attendance to watch the workout.

My DD attended the Colorado Jamboree last year and is planning to attend again this year since she will already be there for the IDT tournament. At the Jamboree last year most of the focus was on the 2020 class. They had all of the 2020 on one field in one group for easy viewing, I am guessing. With the other remaining years together. If your DD does attend a tryout and gets chosen for a Jamboree which usually is in conjunction of a high profile tournament like the Sparkler. I would suggest booking the workout as close to the start of the tournament as possible. So if the tournament starts on let’s say a Monday try to schedule the workout on the Sunday. I believe the coaches attendance was greater the closer it was to the tournament start date. I am not sure how it will workout now due to the new recruiting calendar dates though. Which is something you should look into.

With that being said my DD really enjoyed the camp/workout last year. She did get a couple of college camp invites that noticed her at the workout. We really didn’t have any clue how the Jamboree worked so we didn’t send any emails out to coaches which in hindsight was not a good idea so be sure to do that if planning on attending. All in all it was a very good experience for my DD and I also enjoyed watching. One last thing, you must attend a Jamboree to get your ODM number. The tryout will only give you your metrics. You could go online and get a ballpark ODM score by finding a young lady close to your daughters metrics if not attending a Jamboree. As far as DD recruitment has gone I do not think that a single coach asked about her ODM number or commented about it. She didn’t score off the charts with her numbers so maybe that is why no mention of it.

Overall DD had a good experience, however wasn't selected to the Jamboree as she had a bit of an off day in the field. Speed was great as was her big bat as always, but others I met there mentioned that their DD had to attend multiple tryouts before being selected.

One thing that was concerning was that the people running it from OnDeck mentioned that the new rules didn't affect them much in the long run nor with the schools, however more than 75% of the invites listed to the jamborees from the most recent tryouts were 2022's and 2023's which puzzled me? DD is a 2021, and one of my other players who is a 2020 and already being recruited by a couple of smaller D1's along with a D2 also didnt receive an invite from the tryout. That said I guess the 2022's and 2023s are the players they'll be dealing with over the next few years and maybe they're tracking progression for the D1's.
