Dd is 15 . She pitches and plays middle infield . Looking at getting her a new glove and was thinking a 12 " A2000 . Is this a good choice or what would be the general consensus?

Thanks Terry HowardView attachment 12745

The white glove is a 12" mizuno mvp and the brown glove is a GGE11V baseball glove .

Looks good, that was fast, and thanks for posting the pic! Did you or do you notice the difference in quality right away between the two?

Definitely.. it's definitely a much stiffer glove . I think it will take some work to break in . Dd has an old 12" mizuno (It was her first glove ) and it is about the same size as the GGE11V . It feels like some pretty sweet leather ..

Gge11v

I have only two concerns

She likes the Velcro on her other glove . Her old hitting / fielding coach use to give her a hard time about it not being a bull rope that you need to cinch down .

The finger stalls feel big .

But it's a nice piece of leather .

Youngest is playing 14u and has an A2000 11.75" she's had for going on 4+ years now. Still in great shape. We put some cream on it 3-4 times a year, take care of it and relaced it once. Oldest has gone through 3 "cheaper" gloves in the same time period - Wilson A600, a Mizuno that was more plastic than leather, and a Louisville cheapo. The internals have crumbled, padding is gone, it turns into a wet noodle in about 18 months. She wasn't willing to put in the work to break in an A2000. Youngest was. Youngest will still be using her same glove in high school. Oldest is giving up the game after this year, so I guess it doesn't matter for her at this point. Youngest is worried that in college she will be at a non-wilson school and will have to switch to another brand, LOL!

Me personally, I got a Rawlings Gold Glove when I was in 8th grade (those were the best of the best at the time, along with the Wilson gloves). That thing was the stiffest glove I've ever used in my life for the first month or so. But I stuck with it and used it all through high school and two years of community college ball. Relaced twice. Got the palm padding rebuilt once. Other than that, a bit of oil/cream here and there and that's it. Still have it to this day. Still use it when I play catch with the girls.

Go to YouTube and search Dirty30 re-lacing videos, search for his wrist closure video. You can adjust the button lap to the Dustin Pedroia method, that’s the tightest wrist closure style I know of.

You can buy just two products to maintain your new gloves, Lexol conditioner in the brown bottle, you can pick it up at Walmart, or any automotive parts store. And you need a beeswax like Jobsite or Obenauf’s to seal the hand/palm liner and finger stalls from sweat. Both of those will last you forever!
