Uhmm no...At that age she was using what is now termed the HL swing which I taught her at age 4 and had been using if for 5 years. She was also 4' 10" tall and about 125 pounds of solid muscle with an average swing speed of 62 MPH (since we practiced 3 -4 times a week with over-loading and under-loading) and using an 11 inch ball which travels further than the typical 12" ball. At the age of 11, using a 12" ball, she had 22 OTF HR's. Granted, it was rec league pitching but still...

She's now 5'11" and 190# of solid muscle playing college ball. This past weekend, in her first true college game/ tournament, she went 5 for 8 with 2 singles, 2 doubles, a walk, a hard grounder to F5 for an out, 2 k's and 7 RBI's. The two doubles bounced back off the top of the fence which was 225' at the facility the college tourney was played in. Not a bad start for the first time she's ever faced college pitching since she's a Freshman this year.

Now her team is in Fl playing another tourney over Spring Break. I'm waiting to hear news on how she does. They arrived Yesterday late evening and didn't play today.

The stats appear to be wrong on the teams website or maybe I have the wrong person. The one I thought was your DD went 3 for 11 with a double, a walk, 4 RBI's and 6 K's. Still very solid numbers for first weekend of college ball.

I imagine this is the wrong person. Stats can vary depending on if a scorekeeper called a hit an error or not, but there's no way you can be mistaken about 2K's vs. 6K's.

Actually given that the player's name and college were disclosed in the DFP college list thread, it is hard to imagine that it is the wrong person. Either the scorekeeper has made some very serious mistakes, or MNDad incorrectly read the stats, or Yocoach exaggerated. I cannot think of another explanation.

Maybe he was at home keeping track on a Gamechanger feed from some 11 year old little brother...

Hmmm. A possibility I guess, but given how he described the two doubles in detail ("bounced back off the top of the fence..."), I was under the impression that he watched in person. But point taken and I now revise my list of possibilities to four. Any other explanations for how three hits become 5, 1 double becomes 2, 4 RBIs become 7, and 6 strikeouts become 2?

And also, strangely, 5'9" on the roster has become 5'11"

I am having fun with this and posted something I thought was funny but then deleted it. His DD has accomplished a lot and is playing D2 softball and living her dream. Congratulations to her. I am a big fan and will follow her for the rest of her career. I wish her nothing but the best. I love all the DFP ladies! I don't love all the dads...

Good post. Dads might be like those on All-Stars, but the DDs are just kids who like softball who are doing their best to get their education while playing a game that they love.

I’m a fan of any kid playing softball while finishing their education. I don’t know if her stats were quoted accurately or not. I do know if a Dad could be arrested for misstating our kids accomplishments we’d all be in trouble.

I agree. Hyperbole can run deep in the softball world. How often is 48mph stated as 54mph?

The only issue I had in his post to me was his last line. Seems very high-schoolish. "So pretty much, shut your facetious yap because you have absolutely no clue as to the caliber of players many of us on here have as DD's."
