Wouldn't believe it, if I hadn't seen it with my own eyes

Right Here For Now
The furthest I have ever seen a 10U hit the ball was my DD. The fence was 195'. The concession stand sits another 20' behind that. The roof of the concession stand is another 40' across and the next field is another 10' or so beyond that. She routinely landed them on the concession stand roof and some of them even landed on the next field.

265 feet at 10U? Was there some beer goggles involved?

I love it man! I absolutely believe it!
The main regulation field we hit on has a 205' fence.
There is a concessions building/seating area exactly 60' from the fence (measured). That's to the edge of the concrete slab/side of the building.
If the DDs hit the building, building roof, hit it over the building (or at least hit a ball into the trees next to the concessions building) we know they are "on it".

But ya... my DDs couldn't hit that concession building until they were 14U.
Hitting the ball that far at 10U is awesome!!!
It's not based on age...it's based on size, strength and batting skills.

I love that there are some people teaching their DDs to hit with power at a young age. Versus settling for the same old small ball swing. Hit it...and run like heck...

It's my opinion that there are many years of power hitters' life wasted on small ball swings.

It's a gift. If the girl is big, and or strong, and has the skills... let her swing that ax!

Thanks for sharing YOCOACH!

During our Memorial Day tourney a few years ago a couple of other dads and myself were camped out under our tent. Each team was assigned a field to work though the day so we set up just past the regular fence down the LF line to get away from the crowds since we had the cooler loaded. We are sitting there when you hear a ball hit the fence. We about jumped out of our chairs because it was unexpected but an 18U girl had just hit the 300' foot permanent fence on the fly.

My buddies daughter is a first year 10u this year and has only hit a few out, however last year in 8u coach pitch this 8 year old would routinely clear 205' fences by 20-30 feet. She is a beast, swings like she hates the ball! She is literally twice the weight and substantially taller than my 8 yo dd but I like it when we can watch her play so she can see a younger girl hit like that.

I witnessed two home runs at 10U, both hit by girls on DD team. (First one witnessed against us was this weekend at 12U) One was 200' over a 4 foot high fence, cleared it by about 2 feet. Poor girl was still racing around the bases before she realized it was over the fence. Didn't get to enjoy it that much!

The second was 210' over an 8' high fence into the wind. Big strong girl, with the bases loaded on a 3-2 count against our rival. Girls met her at home and was subsequently called out after the parents of the opposing team complained she missed home base. I asked the umpire after the game how in the world he determined in the mass that home plate wasn't stepped on and he admitted he didn't but basically did it to placate the loud parents. I couldn't even believe the parents would complain to take something like that away from a 10 year old. We went on to win the game.

Is that you, Uncle Rico? :)
