We have only had working scoreboards at a few tournaments over the years. And to be honest, it really hasn't been an issue. We got used to it. So much so, that we once played at a tournament in Virginia and I didn't even notice the scoreboard was being used until the last inning of our first game. That said, I have found that having the scoreboard is nice for certain things. On Sundays it makes it much easier to follow whomever your next opponent may be.

That sounds like trouble waiting to happen, we have enough other problems. I am not sure of anyone asking our scorekeeper that during a game, probably end up having to send 1 or the other parent to parking lot. :)

Yes, back in the day, it would get rather heated. Parent walks towards me "You better have scored that a hit." Me "Yes [your highness] that last ground ball that the shortstop kicked and bounced off the second baseman's face? ... You better believe that was a hit. Because as we all know, it was a hard hit ball."

First TB tournament this past weekend and the park we played at - none of the scoreboards worked.
We're a first year team that just transitioned from rec so I'm not sure how common that is.
In rec, there'd be a few instances where the scoreboard wouldn't be working and it's always tough for the girls to follow when they don't know the count, outs and score.
I'm sure they need to be following the game a little closer so they know but I was curious how that affects how the game goes and how they play..
What's a good way for them to follow everything better?

Unfortunately, you will probably need to get used to it. Around here tournaments typically don't use scoreboards or play at a lot of parks where they either A) Have a score board on each field or B) Have a score board that works on each field.

Even in High School we find that they have score boards, but the score board lies too much to be reliable as a source of accurate information.
