We have a rival organization that is in our own city, both commissioners sent an email out stating they would start throwing parents/ players off their respective teams if it did not settle down a little bit.

In 10U our Team required a board member from each organization to be at our game when we played each other. :)

There will always be that level of rivalry/competition with local teams and most of the time it gets a little snotty. The largest come from teams in the same org, especially when one is considered the "top" team. Those of kids that tried out for the top team and moved to the bottom are HORRIBLE. I still remember one excuse and this is 4 or 5 years ago: "You only win because you intimidate teams." Man, that's freakin' Confucius level wisdom there... LOL

Like someone else said, just enjoy it all. Just like an ump has got to enjoy some heckling, knowing what he/she saw as plain as day. You just gotta laugh.

Reading post like this and remembering the "life and death" drama of 12U softball brings a smile to my face. All I can tell you is to not let it get to you and at some point, usually @ 16U it stops being "us vs. them" and becomes more of a concerted effort to get as many girls scholarships as possible. A lot of players who do not have the desire to play in college do not play TB past 14U.

What seems like a big deal now, you will look back at and laugh. Once you get beyond 14U,
the 'pretenders' are gone and the girls are there for the game. Parents provide far less drama at the
older ages as well. The peak of drama for me was 12U-14U. I give thanks daily that I spent only
one season in 14U.

Regardless, the drama of 12U is a fond but distant memory since my DD is playing college ball
an I have more free time than ever.

Some people are just like that...just let it go and be the better team. Some people never lose...its always an excuse, never that they just got beat by a better team that day.

Like someone said earlier though, if you knew somebody on your team was using a non-approved bat, why didn't you tell the girl not
to use it if you knew what it was?

First off if you knew the ghost was illegal you should have not let player use it.

As far as the other team, you'll always find teams like that. The umps are always out to get them. They always get the tougher draw. They always get the other teams best pitcher, etc. It's not OK to be texting players to move teams during the season. If they contact you it's find but not the other way around. Hopefully it all gets better over the next few years. In the end you'll all likely wind up playing together at some point.

Initially, I didn’t even think about the bat. When the ump said it was ok to use, I probably could have had her use something else, but at that point I probably let the moment get to me and let her use it just to frustrate the other coach. Contacting the parents is probably my biggest peeve. Just seems low class to try and snag players from other teams during the season. If the player comes to you, that’s one thing, but the actively try and get them. Just bad form in my opinion.

I do not recall anyone trying to steal our players mid-seseaon and that would blank me off, I would call whoever I could and demand it stops.

They have been asked if they want to move at the end of the season, I am OK with that. Kind of a compliment to player and your coaches.
