Just got dd’s high school schedule. Looks like nonstop play starting feb 3rd til the end of April. 30 games plus 5 tournaments. Is this about the norm? What does everybody else’s high school schedules look like?

It depends on the state. In the previous state where I coached, we were allowed 35 games total, not including post season. We basically averaged 3 games per week, but we had multiple weeks playing 4 games, sometimes 5, especially with weather. Here in PA, we're allowed 20, so its pretty much 2 per week with an occasional 3rd, then post season.

I should mention, our start date for games is March 23 with the State Finals scheduled for June 15.

Well in New England last year we did not start games until first week in April with playoffs basically right before graduation (mid June) only two or three games a week sometimes weather dependent last couple weeks trying to squeeze in four a week and we usually don't get a full Spring break week there are a game or two in there always a bone of contention.

In Iowa, we start our season on May 7th, State concludes July 20th. Maximum games = 40 + 3 scrimmages. This does not count regionals (3) or state games (3). Teams that make it to state could play up to 46 games, plus those 3 scrimmages.

Individual players can play JV & Varsity, and are maxed out at 65 games total for the season. We play a lot of softball during the Iowa High school season. Its a huge commitment. No summer vacations till the end of July or August. The team I coach will play every single day in the month of June except Sundays & two open Wednesdays. That's 24 out of 30 days. However, if you want to compete, you better play a full schedule.

Wow... a ton of games/time.
When do your girls play travel? Showcases?
How do your girls get recruited? Do Colleges recruit at HS games?

Right Here For Now
Since DD has moved onto college, I don't know when Ohio's season starts. From past seasons, it usually starts around the middle of February sometime. They're allowed to play 3 scrimmages, 28 regular season games plus post-season games and I think 3 tournaments but I could easily be wrong. Usually post season play ends around the middle of June if the team goes all the way through

In Idaho we are limited to 22 games or 20 games and 1 four game tournament. 1st day of practice cannot start before Feb 23 and the first game is 10 days after that. Also, no travel ball during the high school season as players are prohibited from playing with another team/coach during the high school season...
