I struggled at first, as well. However, the more you use it, the easier it becomes. Players love the green-yellow-red graphics and the slo mo. I find it especially helpful for those players with poor swings as it leaves little doubt about it once they see it themselves. It's also useful for highlighting speed.

I took about 20 swings with it. I can understand the numbers and what I should be aiming for, but the path/plane graphics don't help me much because I'm not really sure what I should want to see AND how to get there. I can look at mine and look at Mike Trout's and go "well, that's not quite the same." I'm not sure how helpful that is.

What's helped me with the path and plane is comparing the results with the many model swings found here on DFP. Quite a few of the hitting gurus provide illustrations of the bat path/plane many elite hitters use. I use those as a reference point.

Personally, I like the graphics and the measurements. But I believe it is important to understand the impact that location and timing are going to have on each. If you specifically use it for tee swings, you can control the location of the tee and ball, so there should be a certain amount of consistency with the numbers. What I learned eventually is that while a certain student's attack angle may have a really nice measurement, if you look at the graphic, you may realize that the hitter is contacting the ball too far out front. You really need to view both to accurately view a particular swing. I like to measure some tee swings and then also measure some swings on front toss to see how much of a variance there will be between the two (not all hitters can duplicate their tee swing against a moving ball). But when measuring front toss, we must also realize that a pitch high in the zone will provide different measurements when compared to a pitch low in the zone. It helps to have a sound understanding of the mechanics and then use that methodology to decipher the information provided by the application.
