JAD and Chaz are spot on here. My kid played baseball from 5 to 12 years old. Her first time playing softball was 2nd year 14y/o and 8th grade MS. It took her a good 1 1/2- 2 years to adjust to hitting a softball hard. Lot's of lessons and time in the back yard.

But, she has been defensive MVP every year 8th, 9th and 10th, so that side of the ball comes much easier.

Good luck.

Thanks for the help everyone. We're very aware of Hudek and several other girls/women that have made the switch. My daughter's #1 goal is to make the Team USA Women's baseball team. She got to play against several of them just two weeks ago at a tournament in Florida.

She plays up to the Major/AAA level in travel and has since she was 7, so level of play isn't an issue. She's not sure about playing in college yet, that's why I asked more about camps. I was curious if the coach would see if her swing and fielding skills would make a good fit in transition.

No doubt batting will take some transition, but I don't think it'll be a huge one. She played some SB for the first time in years a month or two back, fill in for a firecrackers team. Timing was no issue at all, she said it didn't feel fast. The only issue was the path of the ball coming from down low instead of high. She was never struck out, but kept hitting grounders. I know it's not that easy at the collegiate level though, but no sport is. :)

Sorry for the thread hijack, but I am really curious about the Massey rating. It seems to be geared towards football. Also, how is it different from RPI?[/QUOTE
Massey does a bunch of sports including college softball. For Softball, You can actually put a D1 program against a D3 to see how they would do head to head. You should trying exploring all of the options.

His preseason rankings are based on the program's recent history, not current personnel, but IMO, his rankings are the best way to figure out the general strength of programs, especially those that aren't well known. like D-II. You can also combine his D-I, D-II, D-III rankings and see how strong some D-II programs are relative to D-I programs.
